Posted November 18, 200816 yr My cinny chick is such a photogenic little thing so I took some piccies of her this afternoon. I took like twenty but here's just a few so everyone else can enjoy her cuteness too Gosh mum I'm tired after all those photos:
November 18, 200816 yr She is very beautiful, I agree, don't forget to submit her picture for Budgie of the Month
November 18, 200816 yr Author Imight clean the glass on the brooder and see if I can get a better one, she's always jammed in that corner sleeping
February 9, 200916 yr Author I'll have to catch her up tomorrow and take some new pics. Hoping to put her in a show this weekend but it will depend on the last few pin feathers she's moulting out.
February 9, 200916 yr A handy tool to have in the show kit is a 1/2 hacksaw blade for removing obstinate pin feathers, use as a comb.
February 10, 200916 yr Author okay, after all my racing around organising stuff for my local fire relief centre tonight the light is still on in the aviary so I'll bring her in before bed and take a few pics for you, be patient a few minutes more Sorry guys, brought her in, took photos but now I can't find the camera cable as I'm in the middle of a reorganisation of the house will put them up ASAP for you. Kaz I assume the hacksaw blade is fine as long as the pins have had the blood flow recede from them ? Edited February 10, 200916 yr by melbournebudgies
February 14, 200916 yr Author Finally the cord arrived and the pics are here She's about 4 months old now She didn't go to the show today as I am going away tomorrow and decided I really couldn't take the whole day out from my prep to take her... For anyone wondering she isn't in a standard size budgie show cage, it's a smaller one which is actually a canary show cage so she isn't some kind of huge monster budgie For some reason though despite being for smaller birds the bar width is wider which is crazy if you ask me so don't try and judge her size based on the cage :hap: Edited February 14, 200916 yr by melbournebudgies
February 14, 200916 yr She is a lovely hen MB! you must be very proud of her. Are you able to breed her parents again next time?? if so, DO! as you want more like her
February 14, 200916 yr Author She was the first show type I ever bred so even if she was awful I'd still be proud of her Sadly her dad died when she was about two weeks old so she and her sister are the only ones I have to show for him, he was one of my favorite birds and by far the best show type I had at the time :hap:
February 14, 200916 yr Author Well I can see faults in her but she's definately a great start, she has nice blow which is often hard to get in a hen. Personally I feel she's too loose in the feathers and also a little long in the feather but these are things I can work on when I pair her in the future. She's only 4 months old and still developing and it will be interesting to see if she develops a bitmore shoulder as she grows.
February 14, 200916 yr She is very nice Melbournebudgies. She has really good head feather, I think its called directional feathering. Well done.
February 15, 200916 yr Kaz I assume the hacksaw blade is fine as long as the pins have had the blood flow recede from them ? Yes...it just helps remove the sheath
