Crested Baby

Due to the colour of this chick it is really hard to get a close up that shows her tiny crest (it's not as well defined as the older chick that died's) but I know some people have been waiting for pics so here she is :)

I am very interested to see what colour her body feathers come through, she is a cinnamon opaline(I think) spangle, she should be very pretty when she grows up. Oh my gosh she is tiny though, she comes from good size crested stock but she is smaller than the pet type at the moment, just goes to show what happens when they get a rough start in life. She should throw larger babies though so I'll breed her to a big non crested when she grows up :)

It's a teensy crest which is why I didn't notice it originally. Her brother had a nice big crest right in line between the eyes on the top of his head where it shoud be but she'll just look like she's had her fringe teased

She is a tuffed,it will look like a cocky crest, when she grows,if she is from a crestXcrest, size will be a problem,Breed them to normals & pick the best,to put back to a crest.Size is one of the main thing to look for, when breeding crests.

She isn't from a crest X crest she's from a good size crested cock X even bigger non-crested(crestbred) hen. I think in this case alot of the size is due to her tough start in life as her older brother that died was much bigger at the same age when he died, hoping for better size in the next cutch :)

Cute mate, is she greygreen? The cinnamon will lighten it to a yellowy-greygreen, I have a few cin op spangle greygreens hatch this year.

Did the parents go for round 2?

I don't think she would be as neither parent is, she's just started opening body feathers now. Parents are light green spangle and Olive normal

Parents are thinking about round two, I'm happy to let them go for it even though it's getting close to summer as I have a closed breeding room which I can air condition if necessary.
