Ever wondered what to send your budgies in?

Have you ever heard of people and/or breeders sending budgies to other states/overseas and so forth and thought what do they send the budgies in?

Well, it?s called a Transit Holding Cage and it looks like this: (this is a proper bought one, it?s NOT homemade.)

Just for the members who wanted to know and all the people on the web who sent me an email regarding what they look like.

Hey that's pretty cool!!!How many budgies could be poked in that for transportation??? I still don't think i would put my budgie wudgies through the stress of long distance travel. ;)

it is bigger than what i thought it would be but i would still never support anybody using them.

i might just be able to understand if you had to move and you couldnt bare to leave a budgie behind but i cant think of any other reason to do it.

sometimes its necessary for breeders to transport their budgies....just like sometimes its necessary to transport a pet budgie (eg. to an avian vet that lives miles and miles away!)

i think that carry box is a good size - it can be quite stressful for the birds to be transported in anything larger than this because it would allow them to flap their wings in panic which could result in an injury and frighten the bird alot.

i have transported my budgies in tiny little cardboard bird boxes that are too small for them to flap about in and also means they are in total darkness to keep them calm. if i had to go on a long journey though i would use a similar box (slightly smaller for two budgies) rather than transport them in their cage. i would imagine that would be very stressful for a bird.

also, they would get used to the box quite quickly if they are transported around for shows and stuff like that?
