Posted November 10, 200816 yr I checked on my chicks this morning and I must admit I have been pretty distracted by the dramas with the oldest chick that I hadn't noticed the pin feathers coming through on my little green chick's head. She's crested! Unfortunately it's not a lovely perfect crest like the one that died. A little lopsided and more like a cowlick so she won't be shown but she'll be a valuable addition to future breeding Before anyone asks I'm hoping for my card reader to arrive today or tomorrow so I do promise photos ASAP Edited November 10, 200816 yr by KAZ
November 10, 200816 yr That is great news, even though she is not a perfect crested you still got one crested baby from your first breeding.
November 11, 200816 yr Congrats on your crested baby, cant wait for pics! :hap: I was given a pair that are both split for crested and are in a cabinet at the moment. She has been in and out of the box a bit, but I dont know that they will go down before I finish up my season. But there's always next season!
November 11, 200816 yr Author I am thinking a will bring a few pairs inside so I can exend my season out a little as I have a few other pairs that I really want chicks out of this year, not that it gets really hot in the breeding area though
November 11, 200816 yr I now have two cabinets free, so the shut down begins, and I'm looking forward to the time I can just enjoy them all out in the aviary again! Mind you, I already have ideas in my head for the next season lol
November 11, 200816 yr Author I'm looking forward to that too Sunnie but after all the dramas I've only come out of it all with four chicks this time and if I don't extend my season I won't have nearly enough of my lines to use next season :hap:
November 11, 200816 yr Well good luck and I hope you have a great burst of chickies really soon :hap:
November 11, 200816 yr Author So do I, I'm hoping for a more successful second clutch of crested babies too :hap:
