Posted November 7, 200816 yr I have been thinking hard how to design this aviary and eventually just went for something simple. So I got the plans all drawn up up and this is it: I'm Having my cockatoo in one side and my budgies on the other. Now I'm just waiting on confirmation on the money supply....
November 7, 200816 yr Author That looks great, what are the bits on the corners? Oh sorry the program i used mucked that up a bit 1 metre from either end is enclosed for breeding cold/hot weather etc.
November 7, 200816 yr Author hyopefully it will be up and ready by christmas or january How many water/food bowls should i have in there for 10 budgies? Edited November 7, 200816 yr by Snowflake
November 7, 200816 yr Depends on the size and position but I would have atleast two of each. I have a large water bowl (which is a bird bath) plus one of those plastic dispenser type waterers which they sell for dogs and cats, for food I have only one large dish at the oment but I'm adding to that a dispenser feeder this weekend
November 7, 200816 yr Author thanks i was thinking of having a bird bath for water(or splashing around in) and a bird bath for food.
November 9, 200816 yr Congrats Snowflakes good job buddie...all our aviaries have never gone to paper (secrets locked inside my head) Word of caution tho....Cockatoo next to anyother keet can end in disaster...! some hints for you 1. make sure the mesh dividing the cages is strong enough so the TOO cant bite through the mesh ( had Galah's that could rip mesh apart) 2. mesh the Too's side so its a double meshed divider-this was the toes of the budgies will not be bitten off 3.keep us updated lol cheers Adam Edited November 9, 200816 yr by KAZ
November 9, 200816 yr We built our first Aviary using Colourbond Fence panels, it is very strong and robust. We are about to build Stage 2 and will change some ideas. I used old cut down security doors to get the double mesh as we have Budgies, Grassies and Quarions on one side and Peachies, Grassies and Lovebirds on the other. The fence panels can be cut to any size, and best can be all pre fabed, then assembled. Also in years to come can be easilly moved if needs to. Regards Angels Husband and chief Avairy Builder. November 10, 200816 yr Author Looks good. I have my cocky in with my budgies at the moment and the cocky only gets grumpy when the budgies take his food or they get in the way of whatever it is he does during the day. thanks for the advice about the mesh though cos my cocky rips the stuff i have now apart aswell....
