October 31, 200816 yr I am no help to you .. but am interested to see what the experienced members post as advice to you. My female budgie, Maxie just will not become tame. Charley is as tame as they get. Maxie tries hard to bite me. If I adjust her branch in her cage, even from OUTSIDE the cage, she sits and makes the biting moves with a nasty little look on her face, as if to say "you come any closer and I'll get you!!!!" So I'm looking forward to the replies you get!! Good luck with Bluebell.. she should be okay though as she was sitting on your finger at one stage. Maxie has never been social, ever!!
October 31, 200816 yr This is what happens to budgies in the first couple days when people can pet and stroke them they think they are tame but they are actually too terrified to move. Through my own personal experience your bird now as the "guts" to let you know she is scared to death of you. To create a bond you must spend a lot of time with them but this time is not always about your hands but talking to them, your hands are big to a budgie and they look like a predator and the last thing she probably remembers was being grabbed and put into a cage/box and taken away from everything she knew. Time, patience and talking to her will help her come around. I can give you my tips but I wrote them up into an article that you can find in the FAQ section called Taming Your Budgie, I suggest you read it to get ideas and such. Her biting (some birds bite harder then others) is most likely out of fear at this point.
October 31, 200816 yr I've got to say I agree with elly. I've never tamed bugies before but just going on all the threads that I've read here, the number of times I have seen people write for the first week he/she was really close to me and we were making real progress then all of a sudden... just be persistant and eventually they will come around. Good Luck. November 4, 200816 yr Author this usually happens around 3-5 as this is usually when i play with her. but other times she is just as bad .
November 4, 200816 yr 3-5 are afternoon nap hours for budgies they are most active in the morning and in the evening that is when you should work with her.
