Posted November 6, 200816 yr Hi Everyone i need a breeding pair but um should i get them from two different places or is it alright to get both from the same place? and what kind of colours do i get them in to have their babies in certain colours?? Thanks Edited November 6, 200816 yr by Shan
November 6, 200816 yr Aslong as you can be sure they are not related it is fine to get them from the same place. If you plan to breed them straight away make sure they are over a year old. Do not forget to quarantine them away from your other birds. If you want a green budgie get 2 green's if you want a blue get 2 blue birds.
November 6, 200816 yr It woud make quarantine easier if you got them from the same place as long as you can be sure they aren't related to each other.
November 6, 200816 yr Any breeder worth their salt will know which birds are related closely. Some relation is okay, just not real close like brother/sister or mum/son etc remember quarantine for all new birds from your existing birds and if the new birds are from different places then they also need to be quarantined from each other too.
November 6, 200816 yr Besides the necessary quarantine, dont put them straight down to breed as they will need time to get used to a new place and new food and all the stress of being caught and moved and rehoused.
