its fine to touch it... you won't hurt it... :D

But the mum is in there 100% of the time I might make her not want to be in there?

As long as you're not going in there regularly to pick it up the hen will be fine... just make sure you tap on the nest box to give her fair warning that you are coming in... once at the start of the day and once at the end of the day is fine...

Dark eyes, I didnt pick it up the mummy didnt want to come out or get out of the way. Seems to have a full crop too...yay! :D:D

I think it's good to pick them up and check them over every now and then just to be sure they're okay, but not too often and probably no more than once a day. You can do it more the bigger they get too. Sounds like you can see enough without touching it though for the time being. Probably good that you've been leaving the new time mum alone and not stressing her too much just yet. But it should be okay to pick it up.

I don't know what colour eyes TCBs have, but albinos would be red.... sometimes you can already rule out some things it could be or tell something of what it could be just from the eye colour!

okay... well I'm going to say it looks like a TCB split to ino cock.... :D I have no idea but If I'm right I said it first :D

JB you're right about the TCB but it may not be a cock. If dad is split for Ino it could be a hen.

I just checked on the pair and noticed that the T.C.B. father has a blocked cere, just his left hole. Is this a concern and what can I do? He seems well.

does it look like food that is blocking it?? Might be a bit of food that he is trying to feed... got a photo?? :D

Its just a bit of yellow, maybe it is food? I'll try and get a photo but my camera is not great for close ups....

Photo:dcp_4227.jpgNo sneezing at all, he has looked a little messy since he has been feeding the missus so hopefully this is all it is. I would hate anything to go wrong, it has just gone so smoothly so far I expect something to go bad :D

It is probably food... fingers crossed. Hopefully someone smarter than me will be along soon :D

Yeah hopefully..... :28:

What type of food would stick to his beak? Just asking to get a general idea?

Doesn't look like food to me it looks respiratory with the staining above the nostril but I am not sure if respiratory always affects both sides or not.

That's what I'm thinking too trish... have you tried cleaning it??

With water or should I make up a saline solution? P.S. I somehow typed "regurgitate" wrong in my previous post, my apologies as I was half asleep!

I went to go and clean daddy's cere but it has unblocked itself. I also had a peep at the babies and I have another! An Albino baby! All have full crops.

Tally so far:

Chick 1= T.C.B, born late on 25th Dec or early 26th (Trapped in shell).

Chick 2= Albino, born 26th Dec.

Chick 3= Albino, born 28th Dec.

Hi there,

I just put a ring on my first chicky a T.C.B. ring I.D: SA NE -9 001 :bluebudgie:

I hope it stays on, does it matter on the left or right foot, I put it on the chicks right. How exciting!

Cheers,

Trish.
