Posted November 5, 200816 yr Hi Everyone, Harvey, now known as Gemma, is doing great. Thanks to Kaz, I managed to get in touch with her breeder and found out the following: Gemma was "born" on 14/06/2008, so she would be 4 1/2 months old. "Mummy" is an opaline cobalt violet spangle, "Daddy" is a normal green. Is she still classed as a baby? If so, when does this end? She is still a sleepy girl although she seems to be awake more than she was when I first got her. Cheers, Debbie
November 5, 200816 yr Yes she is considered a baby :bump:, adult around the 12 month mark, 6-11 months teenage like . Keep an eye on her if she is still sleepy alot you should have periods of alertness and in the afternoon most budgie seem to be quieter.

November 5, 200816 yr Author Glad to know she is a baby still! A big baby too. Does that have anything to do with being an English bird, as the breeder told me? She is having more awake time with lots of chirping and flapping around. She does a little "dance" too where she bobs her head up and down and side to side. She has also started to do this clicking thing with her tongue and beak, just as she is going to sleep. She puffs up when she is sleepy too, but not with all her feathers poking up like she was, just puffy, is that okay? Sorry to ask so many questions, I am rather paranoid lately, I don't want to lose another "baby" after only losing my "baby" dog 4 weeks ago . Debbie

When you hear her making a clicking noise when she is about to sleep, means she is is content and comfortable. Sometimes they will make grinding beak noises too before falling asleep. Puffing up alittle is okay, as long as she is not constantly puffed up. Sorry to ask so many questions, I am rather paranoid lately, I don't want to lose another "baby" after only losing my "baby" dog 4 weeks ago . I'm sorry for your loss. It is fine to ask questions :happy-dancing: Debbie
