November 7, 200816 yr If you sand the sides to a slope then that's fine, you don't want them to fall.
November 7, 200816 yr Author What if there is no concave and she continues breeding on the flat side.
November 7, 200816 yr Chicks will often naturally move into the concave, also it is harder for her to keep control of the eggs and keep them clustered without the concave so they are more prone to going cold. You will find a much better success rate with a conave I would say
November 9, 200816 yr yay!! Congrats! Hope they are both fertile!! Looking forward to seeing the chicks...
November 9, 200816 yr okay... I'll try to settle down but I am really looking forward to seeing them... I've been thinking I wouldn't mind getting some bush budgies... so I'm watching this thread with baited breath... might have to get me some from somewhere..
November 11, 200816 yr Author Okay, so we have two lovely eggs. I think i heard somewhere that they may not sit on them untill the second or third egg. How do I tell if she is sitting on them? She is in the box all the time. When I cheak on the nest she is very very quick to exit the box. Im abit worried that she might be a very light sitter. There isnt much of her to sit on them either. Lol. Is there any stage at which I should consider incubating them? Although I presume that this may not be worth it. Also at what age should I candle the eggs? Â Egg number 3 is expected today :hap: Â Here are some pictures in the mean time: DADDY: MUMMY: Resting on my curtains (their one and only venture out untill they finish breeding and get into an avairy. Can you say, disaster. Lol) Home: What are you looking at!? Can I have some privacy?! I dont think she's watching... Give us a kiss baby!
November 11, 200816 yr If she is in the box all the time then chances are she is sitting. Candle them in a few days and see if you can see any little viens :hap:

Lol. Â You just said she is due to lay another egg..... Some people think that the time they are in there laying the next egg is sitting when they arent YET.....and then there is worry as she is out for longer between eggs. You will know when she is sitting as you wont see her out except for feeding time...early morning and around 4-5 pm at night for only 15-20 mins. Try not to over check her as she may addle eggs scrambling to get out. Once a day is fine on the days you expect the eggs...once chicks arrive check twice daily.
November 11, 200816 yr Author Sweet, well I guess she is sitting, cause we never see her! Â PS. EGG NUMBER 3 YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
November 11, 200816 yr Also make sure you talkto her lots and give a gentle tap on the box before you open it as she needs plenty of warning if she is flighty so that she can get out more calmly
November 13, 200816 yr Author OMG I just had the most amazing experience. I just candled my 3 eggs for the first time and 2 are clearly fertile, one.. im not to sure. Â BUT!.... Â I saw the little embryo and heartbeat of the first egg. A HEARTBEAT! How exciting and amazing. Â PS. Egg number 4 didnt come today. Do you think she might be having just 3 eggs?
November 13, 200816 yr One of my female budgies laid 3 eggs then skipped 4 days and started laying again. So maybe your budgie is just skipping a few days and she will lay more later. Congratulations on the eggs.
November 13, 200816 yr Author Wonderful! I hope so. But I also throught that maybe cause she is so tiny she can only lay a few.
