Posted November 2, 200816 yr Well I have three clutches, a green normal pair, a green cock/blue hen dom pied pair and a green crested spangle/crestbred normal pair who have got chicks with colour now. I was expecting all green normals from the green pair, green pieds from the pied pair (although I new there was a chance of normals) and green cresteds/uncrested from the crested pair. Soooo.... what did I end up with? 2 blue normals from the green pair and two blue normals from the pied pair!!! Plus the surviving crestbred chick who doesn't have a crest but is green as expected looks to a cinnamon! Just goes to show hyou just never know what you'll get sometimes  Edited November 2, 200816 yr by melbournebudgies
November 2, 200816 yr things do not always go to script do they? Any pics of the little ones? I am not breeding my birds again until january, when my setup should be better, so I have to live vicariously through others, so all help provided is much appreciated.
November 2, 200816 yr That's gentics for you, your green birds must be split blue and you don't aleays get pieds they say it a percentage over a time that's when they say for example 50% chance of getting
November 2, 200816 yr Funny how things go. So..... does that mean you lost your little crested chick? So sorry to hear that
November 2, 200816 yr Author Yes sadly we did lose the little crested chick, I commented in my diary thread that he was a scrawny thing and the next day I got home from work and he was dead  I have been kicking myself for not trying to crop feed earlier as it is probably the only reason I still have his sister (who isn't crested) The five chicks that I have are all doing brilliantly now though  I promise photos when I can get my card reader working Hoping tonight or tomorrow, the bloke across the road is looking at it for me
November 2, 200816 yr thats why genetics trips me up every time... You always seem to get something that doesn't fit I am sure they all look great. Looking forward to the pics
