November 10, 200816 yr You could plant native grasses like Poa and Sedges like carex and Lomandra as they will enjoy the seeds and they also look pretty. You could get some nice red flowering gums, some of them are only fairly small and quite bushy.
November 10, 200816 yr Author Thanks for the names of some grasses, i am planning on planting some and kangaroo paws, the kangaroo paws i am getting because i like them. The trees are the hardest bit for me to work out which ones to plant because i want a couple that will grow to at least 4 metres.
November 10, 200816 yr Check out the red fowering gums at your nursery. I have one which is Corymbia ficifolia which I only bought recently so haven't tried it on the birds yet but it says on the tag that it is bird attracting, and grows 6-10metres (you culd prune it if it was getting too large). It doesn't need much water and is a survuvor as I nearly killed this one when it was still in the pot and all the leaves dried up and dropped off, I just kept the water up to it for a few days and now it has heaps of lovely new growth
November 13, 200816 yr Author I got to the nursery today and bought heaps of plants, got a little carried away. I got a red flowering gum, a couple of hibicus,a lilly pilly, a few native shrubs and some kangaroo paws. Now i will be waiting impatiently for them to grow quickly. I have a couple of smaller garden beds that i have decided to plant some native grasses in.
