Posted November 1, 200816 yr Here some shots of Charley playing on the floor. He's never been floor level before so it was quite exciting (for me!!). I so enjoyed watching him and playing with him. ...getting a different view of the world?? (Forgive me guys for showing off.. but heck.. I'm so happy that he's alive and well!!! and that I can now play with him, without him flying away!!!)
November 1, 200816 yr Thanks for sharing!!! It's a whole different experience when they can't fly away isn't it. It looks like he is having a blast... yah for you both!
November 1, 200816 yr He is so pretty...one word of caution and I really hate to burst your bubble but you are better to have the cage on a table and let him play up there, I know you supervise well but when budgies get to used to playing on the floor it puts them in danger of being accidently stepped on it is advised that budgies don't play on the floor because of this reason, not that it would happen to you but that is why they are called accidents. November 1, 200816 yr Author Thanks Elly. His cage is normally up on a little bookshelf next to the window, its about shoulder level and I used to just open it from there, but since he had his wings trimmed I was worried it was too high for him if he tried to "fly" off. I could put it on the bed instead for play times (I only have a flat and keep Maxie in the lounge room, Charley is with me in the bedroom, not a lot of space). I guess I thought the floor was the safest as it is not too far for him to "fall" when he is on top of his cage and flutters off. I get your point however. I can see how he could be stepped on.. if for instance I had to get up quickly to answer the phone or a knock on the door. I'll try to find an alternative way for play time.
