November 5, 200816 yr thanks Kaz thats what I thought it would be but was just checking. Spoilt little budgie
November 6, 200816 yr Author Well, I am not so sure that my boofy headed green spangled sick bird is going to make it. He eats, drinks the medicated water, poos normal, and even his feather growth is returning, but he just does not feel like he is putting on weight. I am trying to be patient, as I know it will take some time, but I worry. He still seems very alert, and yesterday he demolished the drink container, pulling it off the cage wall and knocking it over, so he is hardly lethargic, but the worry is still there. I just want Quarantine to end soon. My house is getting decimated with small white feathers that cling to everything and refuse to submit to the might power of the vacuum.
November 6, 200816 yr I hope the spangle does improve for you, he is a nice looking bird. I know what those little feathers are like, my back area is covered with them.
November 6, 200816 yr Author I need a back area like yours. Since birds all come from different breeders, they are all quarantined seperately throughout the house and garage. Deb's 4 are in the garage. 3 hens from George are in the loungeroom Sick boy from George is upstairs in the bathroom 4 from Ivan are upstairs in the spare room 2 from Abi are downstairs in the laundry. Need to work out one more area as I am going to see Warren Wilson on Saturday night - LOL
November 6, 200816 yr You will like Warren Wilson ....he is a top bloke Re the spangle...what meds is he on Dave ?
November 6, 200816 yr Fingers Crossed for ya Dave. Hopefully he will pick up soon... Going to another breeder Dave... look forward to seeing the new birds!
November 6, 200816 yr WOW you are getting some real nice birds there Dave, I'm glad you cock bird is getting better thought he looked a fluffed but who can tell from a photo.
November 6, 200816 yr Author My spangle boy looks better tonight he has had a long lasting anti-biotic and is on roni-vet this week, triple C next week he fluffs up all the time, has good feathers like that, but is thin underneath, thus the canker meds now to try to help with that, the hulled oats and sunflower seeds to fatten him up, and then triple c for general health next week. We will see how he goes. We hope and pray.
November 6, 200816 yr fingers crossed Dave, and good on you for ensuring they are all in seperate rooms just this little spangle could have made everyone sick, shows that quarantine is essential no matter what.
November 10, 200816 yr Author hard to tell if my little spangle is getting better. I realise it will take time. I did not end up getting any birds from Warren Wilson, but I am jsut wanting quarnatine to end!!!
November 12, 200816 yr dave, what were warren wilsons birds like? How much was he wanting for them? What area is he located? is it worth the trip to have a lot? Do you know anyone in sydney who is selling good pieds at present?

November 13, 200816 yr Dave I hope you are not paying to much for those birds, its a trap when you start out,you can pay to much for birds, if the person you are bidding against,is ib the same boat as you,& can make a plain bird a dear bird.It is best to get the assistance,of a experianced breeder,to help you select the right birds for you to breed with. :laughter:
November 15, 200816 yr Author Well it has been 11 days since the last post on here. Quarantine continues. Some days my green as yet unamed boys is not looking the best, some days he is full of energy. He has been on Ronivet for 2 weeks, and has now changed to Triple C. He will be wormed after this. He is still struggling to put on weight though, but he is very active. At the moment he is doing his best to raise the doors on his cage and escape, to the extent I am going to have to put pegs onthe doors i think. Other birds are doing well. About 10 days until the birds from Deb can be released into the aviary. I am looking forward to that. Then just 4 more days until the next lot go in the aviary, then another 4 more days for the next 2. I have been HSC marking, and will be until Wednesday, so I have not been able to appreciate my birds as much as possible lately.
