The weekend was hot and the budgies were sitting with their wings out so i hosed them to cool them down but the sand on the base got wet. I have read on the forum that bacterias breed in damp environments so is it okay for the sand to get wet or not?

Clean sand is fine wet for a little while. Poopy dirt is another thing.

I agree with Kaz on that one mate .. As long as it is clean you are all good

okay thanks for your help, i will make sure on the hot days i clean the aviary before i hose them.

I agree even say in my hermit crab cage it is the deeply wet sand that can't dry out that causes the bacteria and then bugs down the road.
