Posted October 26, 200816 yr Hi everyone I am looking at getting 2 budgies soon (perhaps more later). I want a large-ish cage for them but without spending a fortune. I love the cages that have climbing things on top. I've been looking on ebay and most of the cages have 2 or 2.5cm bar spacing, is that too large for budgies? i am assuming so. Then there is this one which is okay: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/1-8M-WeatherProof-B...id=p3286.c0.m14 But i cant say i overly like it. I really like this style: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/1-7M-Bird-Cage-With...id=p3286.c0.m14 But the bars on that one above dont seem suitable. Can anyone recommend where to buy a cage for a reasonable price, or any particular ones on ebay that you think are suitable. thanks

October 27, 200816 yr In the FAQ we under Cages we have a great link about good cages and bad plus member's cages too .
November 12, 200816 yr Author Look at this horrific thing i found on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Bird-Cage-Mahogany-...%3A1|240%3A1318 Thankfully no one will probably buy it at that price but imagine putting a poor bird in that!!
November 12, 200816 yr Those sorst of cages are generally simply used as a decorative item with no bird in it, but they are generally fine for finches depending on the size, they are certainly not suitable for budgies
November 12, 200816 yr Author I know, but her descrption says you can put a bird in it. I dont believe finches should be put in it, no bird should have to live in that! And she listed it in the Pets section, rather it should just have been listed under Collectables.
November 12, 200816 yr It is a huge cage, just because you don't like the 'look' of it doesn't mean it's unsuitable. These are the sorts of cages which were used all over the world before mass produced metal cages came on the market and they are still used in many places now
