Posted October 26, 200816 yr After going out last night and actually stepping on the tail of a mouse as it ran across my breeding room floor I raced out this morning and got a whole bunch of mouse trapping equipment plus some bait. I live on the back of bush so they come up in the warm weather looking for water. Anyone want to guess how many mice I will catch tonight, I'll tell you who guessed closest tomorrow night
October 26, 200816 yr Eww...what a eww...competition LOL, I think I would have just screamed if I stepped on a mouse tail. Now you didn't tell us how many traps you bought will you give us that so we can decided how many will be caught in a trap? Or not
October 26, 200816 yr Author Well apart from the bait blocks the main trap is a multi catch one that can catch up to 10 And I almost did scream! I then thought I could here them everywhere as I was out there in the dark as I left my glasses out there, so I ran back inside
October 26, 200816 yr Oh Mate Doesnt it just wear you down trying to defeat the little $%#@$ 's. The worst thing of all is the health issues and stress it causes the birds. I wish you luck...sounds like you should have a little heap of fluffy rodents captured by sun up. :ratty: :ratty:
October 26, 200816 yr OMG just reading this I want to scream you are brave, I would have the goosebumps and hebegebies (how ever you spell that lol). okay, I will say you are going to catch 7
October 26, 200816 yr Author They're even worse I think here Kaz because of the bushland near the back of the house. I think they mostly get seed that gets kicked out of the flight, etc but I still worry that small ones are squeexing into the cages with the birds. I definately had the hebegebies Don't know why though since I used to have them as pets Edited October 26, 200816 yr by melbournebudgies
October 26, 200816 yr Mice find it very easy to get into breeder cages through the bars. I wish you luck...hopefully at least a five rodent body count by morning.
October 26, 200816 yr Author Thebreeding cages are within an aviary with small mesh so a little more protected but still worrying
October 26, 200816 yr I guess 3. :ratty: :ratty: :ratty: Good luck getting rid of them. horrible little buggers!!!
October 26, 200816 yr I'm saying 4 MB... I'm not a fan of mice, I can handle them if I see them but to actually step on one that would freak me out... I'd be getting a gun license..
October 26, 200816 yr maybe it was a small snakes tale you landed on... just kidding!! Sorry to hear you didn't get any.
October 26, 200816 yr I went out late and could hear them but none got caught So, you have the rarer variety of house mouse..........the intelligent variety that is smarter than the average trap :ratty:
October 26, 200816 yr Author This ain't no average trap Kaz, I've been using the regular traps with no success, I spent about $50 on snazzy traps!
October 26, 200816 yr This ain't no average trap Kaz, I've been using the regular traps with no success, I spent about $50 on snazzy traps! Mice go crazy for Nuttella, I promise if you try it they can't resist! I also use the spring loaded traps from Safeways they are dearer but very sensitive and once they have a taste of Nuttella they have to get it all! Home brand Nuttella is fine too! :ratty: :purr: Ahhh I feel so evil! I really dont like mice though especially after one killed my beloved Buddy
October 26, 200816 yr Author I have those traps and had no luck, I've resorted to poison now which I didn't want to but ya gotta do what ya gotta do
October 27, 200816 yr I feel you MB - Mice here well I think that they have been eaten or I flooded them away when i stuck the hose in a crack under the house ... That all the snake got them .... Since I hose the aviary every day i haven't seen one yet .... But I am guessing 8 !!!! Peanut Butter and Nutella work a treat with traps .... But if you have seeds or other food sources then they will go for them and not the traps Best of luck mate .. Be careful with the bait
October 27, 200816 yr What a pain that you did not catch any, hope you get them. I am glad i have dumb mice.
