Posted October 26, 200816 yr Hi All Just a quick question, with the heat of late weeks, we are having an influx of spiders and flies in and around our home Does anyone know of a fly/spider spray that can be used around budgie's. Budgie friendly.... I dont want to use the current coles/safeway products as I have concerns on how they affect Benny. I live in Melbourne. Is there anything out there??? Kim & Benny
October 26, 200816 yr The safest method is fly SWAT hehe. if its a must for fly spray, just move your birds to another room or cover them well until the spray has gone.
October 26, 200816 yr I don't use any sprays at all. I use a rolled up newspaper Budgies are very small compared to us... and I know how much it stinks to me!!! BUT, I have seen ads for a new plant based one??? It's in a green can, probably from supermarkets. On the ad it show the lady spraying it near the family and dog who are eating dinner. They are saying it is safe around family, food and pets... but I'm unsure if I'd still be prepared to use it around my birds... That's just me though...
October 26, 200816 yr Best bet is to move the birds out briefly and spray a barrier spray in the areas where the spiders hang out, then get one of those fly jars or the little window stickers for flies
October 26, 200816 yr Fly swat or sticky fly paper. No sprays. I forgot to mention....you can use A.I.L. ....avain insect liquidator. Its safe. I had an influx of flies in the birdroom the other day. Remembered the A.I.L. and sprayed it around the window and floors .....next day they were all gone. Must have worked and safe for birds.
