All five babies have been successfully fostered as of today. The ones I started fostering on Saturday are already growing their down back in. I really dont think mum was trying to hurt the babies. I think she might be over attentive as all the babies were well fed and whenever I had to remove them to check or clean them, she would eagerly gather them all under her and be preening and fussing. Can we say OCD Budgie?? lol I feel a bit sad for her as she has no babies to care for now. Her and Boof will be going into the holding cage for a week or so and then back out into the aviary. I will post more pics when I get time to show their new feathering/down. :hap:

Hi Sunnie, just out of curiosity, how are these young ones progressing?

Hi Hills

These guys are all doing great with their foster parents. I think the oldest may be a cock, but Im still not sure on the sexes of them. I have been meaning to take pics, cause the comparison to the old pics will be very noticeable, but havent gotten around to it yet. I like to choose a time of day where I get as much natural light as possible so as to not use the flash. At least two of them from memory are that pretty aqua sea green colour like mum, so dad must be split blue.

Thanks for asking

Well here are the updated pictures of Boof and Sophie's babies. One of them seems to have possibly suffered feather damage, but is pretty and healthy nonetheless ;)

Some of the colours are a little washed out from taking pics in front of the window. I didnt use a flash to try and catch the natural colours, but obviously the outdoor light was a bit bright too.

Hi Sunnie

Were any of these males? My youngest son has decided he needs a budgie too, so we were wondering if any were available?

Hi Hills

I do have a baby from this clutch, who happens to be the prettiest and I "think" he is a boy. The only thing is, I had been hand taming his older sibling for someone else, and have now moved onto working with another baby that has been requested, so this baby hasnt had any recent handling at all and is probably as flighty as you would get from any petshop. I actually had planned on starting to work with him after my current one, cause even though I had no one lined up to buy him, I think anyone who sees his pretty colours will fall in love.

He is available untamed and ready to go now, or it might be a little while before he is ready to go with a family who wants a hand tamed baby :hap:

Thanks Sunnie, you're right he looks great. How long before you'd be sure if he is a he or a she?

To be sure, I would guess about 4 weeks, he is 2 months old now.

Nice bird Sunnie ;) Hope its a boy Hills otherwise I think you can pick up nest boxes starting from $6.95 ^_^

 If I accidentally buy a hen, they'll be living in different rooms i mean cages. There'll be none of that monkey business under my roof!

Anyway, there's no way I could survive the stress of breeding budgies. I think I'd have to outsource that grief...

like you have! ;)

Thanks Sunnie, again we're in no rush. We'll see how he/she turns out.

Cheers
