Posted October 25, 200816 yr Good morning We have a bush fire at the end of our street at the moment and the smoke seems to be coming inside. Does anybody have any ideas on protecting Coco's little lungs from the fumes? I have blocked the ducts and put a fan on but it is quite strong. Thanks, Tam
October 25, 200816 yr There is probably not a lot you can do. If its just a bush fire and not burning man made materials, than it should be okay just to keep yourselves and Coco inside like you have done. Stay safe!

I have just moved him into the main bathroom and put the exhaust fan on and it seems better than the rest of the house. I think it looks like it is finally dying down now which is good
October 25, 200816 yr Great news!! Just keep in mind that the exaust fan will draw air from outside from under doors and around windows etc. - best to leave it off if you can.

Good point I have just moved him back to the lounge room because he was getting too scared in the bathroom - it is much less smokey now thank goodness
October 25, 200816 yr Good luck. Hope they get the fire under control soon. Bushfire seasons started early I guess. Never a good thing.

October 25, 200816 yr Wow, I don't like the sounds of that this early in the season!! Glad to hear its under control now. We also live in a bushfire zone, but more annoyingly our neighbours always choose to burn off their block when the wind is heading towards our house. As Liv said don't turn on any extractor fans, close all doors and windows and roll up towels and put them across the gaps under outside doors. This should keep the majority of the smoke out. Once the front actually goes past your house, go outside as soon as its safe and make sure nothing is smouldering as burning embers can travel a long distance. Edited October 25, 200816 yr by Hills
