Posted October 23, 200816 yr Is it safe to treat a breeding pair for scaly face mites? I think one of the pair may have mites, but I'm not sure if the medication is safe for the chicks?
October 23, 200816 yr Once the chicks are six weeks old I would treat all of them with Ivermectin to the back of the neck

October 23, 200816 yr Okay the babies are 4 and 9 days old respectively, would it do any harm to wait until they have finished raising them? I had parents who developed scaly face during the raising of chicks...it took over 2 years for any of the chicks to get scaly face. Does that help ?

October 23, 200816 yr Author okay, I'm mainly worried that if I treat the parents for mites, it might hurt the babies, seeing as they are so young? So it would be fine to wait until the chicks fledge before treating them?
