Setting Up A Aviary

I am wanting to put Jack who is my budgie that has all the issues with the broken beak and lost feathers due to a cyst. He is still missing some of his beak but i do not think it will grow back. He has learnt to eat with the beak he has which is good. His feathers have still not all grown back yet so he still cannot fly but i would love to put him back in the aviary. How could i set my aviary up to be able to help him get around the best and i was wondering if anyone had photos of a aviary setup for a budgie that cannot fly?

I dont have photos but my french moult babies are in a mixed aviary and they cope very well. All you need to do is have large branches or ladders from floor to higher perches. Some lengths of lattice will also do the job. Make sure all food and water is accessible and you will soon be surprised at how well the budgie adapts.

I also have branches leading up to the main perches for the ones that have trouble flying and I have food and water etc on the floor but they sit on stands so they don't get dirt or Sand in them as 3 of my aviaries are sand based floors.

Thanks for your suggestions i have a seen some big ladders at the pet shops so i will have to get some for him and rearrange the food and water so he can reach them.

You dont need to buy a large ladder Deb....... even a plank with wooden strips nailed across at intervals of 2-3 inches it will do for a ladder. Large branches from floor to perches on an angle. You dont need to fuss too much. These guys are survivors and do very well in an aviary. My french moulters jump from 3 feet up to ground and climb back up again.....no worries

Thanks kaz, they look like great ladders. He has been in a cage by himself for a while now so i want to make the introduction back into the aviary easier for him.
