okay guys ....

 

This is So off topic. But I am having MAJOR issues with dylan and the dreaded T word " Toilet"

After 3 potties later ... He has finally began to be comfortable using this one

 

 

 

 

IT is rather cute and well fantastic - IT has songs and plays music - and says Rewards after doing a

No1 or No2 ( lol ) Some sensor thing on it ....

 

 

So what is my trouble .... He doesn't want to do No2's ( Poo's ) anywhere apart from his Undies / Pull up or Bed time nappy ....

 

He is 3 in April I haven't pushed any issues with him But I am at my wits ends .... I can't remember how on earth I achieved it with Talia as it was so many years ago ...

 

Any tips, advice etc is worth it's weight in gold to me ...

i am sorry Neat but even though i have 4 kids i have no good tips for you. i am having the same problem with Lucy who just turned 3. My older 2 are 13 and 10 and they were easy to toilet train but Jadon who is 5 is still having accidents but he cannot help it. Lucy refuses to wear her dora undies i bought her and only wants her nappy, she screams when i tried to put her on her potty. I think the potty you got is cute , i might have to look for one.

i hope you get some good advice and he works it out because i know how frustating it is.

I dont know what the "modern way" is but I bribed my kids. They got a chocolate frog for doing no 2's in the potty. Worked a treat

How long will he hold out if you leave him with no pants on? We had the same problem with Alex so I made him a kilt And what does a good scotsman wear under his kilt? NOTHING OF COURSE He worked out pretty quick that it wasn't so nice doing no.2's with no pants on so he very quickly started using the toilet then

MB .. FANTASTIC .. I will try this tomorrow ... However ... I hope that he doesn't decide that the floor is a great place to "drop a log " ( )....

My recommendation would be to spend the first day in the backyard if possible (or atleast on tiles) with the potty in easy reach incase he does have an accident before he realises that you mean business :what:

 

I still have the kilt in the cupboard just incase I need it for Max

cute picture - Yeah , I have tiles so that is okay ... Outside isn't we all know why ...... So i will tomorrow put the potty back into the tiled area as it is now located in the toilet area ...

 

When he got this one he would wee and then wee and so on until he was doing little drops .. But still wanted a lolly ....

 

Dave would flip if he wore a kilt.... he almost had a heart attack when Tj painted his nails including toe nials and applied make up to him .. LOL :lol2:

I did the same thing MB did but not a kilt not common in our parts . I left a long t-shirt on for both of my kids and a toilet like you have downstairs in our dining room for him to go to the bathroom. Everytime he did he would get a jellybean or m&m they work great and he would tell me the color helped out with pottying and colors . It was my husband's idea to keep him naked on the bottom because the feeling of underwear or pull ups makes them think it is okay to go. We never did pull-ups with Hailey our 2nd child it was a waste of money we learned. Both my kids were potty trained by 3. :what:.

My oldest was porky and never fit into pull ups We had to improvise when he went to childcare so we bought cheap incontinence pads and stuck them in his undies, they were great for that transitional stage when he was nearly trained but sometimes started to wee in his pants and then ran to the toiet as they soaked up the little accidents, plus they didn't feel the same as nappies so he was less inclined to use them like nappies

If you could see my fave now it would look like this

I know with poo's, not so much now because your using a potty ( Ooops I mean your little one Neat) but when your child graduates to the toilet, you have to make use you put some toilet paper in the toilet before use as some kids get totally freak out when they do a poo and the water splashes back up, as in the potty this obviously doesn't happen. Poos often do take longer, does he know when he needs to do a poo? Does he hide in a corner? Then on the other side of the coin sometimes going straight to the toilet for poos is better as you can encourage him to hear the splash a poo will make in the toilet, and then he gets to flush it away. It's all just trial and error when it comes to toilet training.

On that note my oldest never used a potty he went straight to the toilet. The funny thing is it was not for lack of trying but even at 18months he was too big for the potty and when sitting on it he would wee over the front After a bunch of puddles on the floor I just gave up and taught him to use the toilet.

He is funny with poo's BL ( hahah Another poo topic lol )

When he was in nappies I could smell him a mile away and I'd know ... But when I asked him

he would insist he didn't LOL .... Then would want to go to the toilet - But he had already done it in his nappy ...

 

Today's accident he did a poo in his Lighting Mcqueen Undies ( funny sight thought ) - He came and told me poo's mummy - so I took him to his toilet ... and seen this lump handing there : hap: Sorry for the Details :hap: ... The look on his face was funny ...... he said Lollies ... ..... no mate no lollies ,,, Lollies are for big boys who to poo's and wee's in the toilet or potty .....

 

So he knows when he has done a poo it's that initial step to get to the toilet ....

 

okay so what I will do is the Long t shirt deal with no undies on at all ....

a side note (I am sure this is not the case but just food for thought) the little boy I look after had real issues with this, he would use his nappy but not the potty, after everything we finally got asked if we had ever seen him Squat to go to the toliet, I could not remember him doing this so a bit of research and found that he had a bowl issue where when you sit it blocks him up and is unable to push anything outthere fore liked to go to the toliet standing up as everything sort of slid out. Give everything else a go but if you feel that he is really resisting going on the potty there might be an underlying issue.

The other thing is to go to the shop and buy some SPECIAL undies and when he has not had an accident for a couple of days and you feel he is ready to graduate to undies explain that they are special big boy undies and only for boys who use the toilet, if he goes potty in these undies they'll go away and he won't get them back again until he can show that he's big enough for them. Hype them up as much as possible that way he can be proud of his big boy undies once he is more reliable

isn't it amazing how all little kids want to be big kids... I've got an almost 2 boy and he just wants to play with 8 year olds. All be it none of the kids his age want to play with him cos he's twice there size but still... I am reading this thread with interest cos I can't really be bothered going out and spending money on nappies tomorrow.

Mine turned 2 on Saturday JB so I'm in the same boat too. I think I'll wait until the weather is consistently warm though and then I can just take him out the backyard while we are training where accidents aren't such a problem

Yeah my wife should be going on maturity leave again next year if all goes according to plan so we are thinking we might wait until then... He is starting to let us know when he has done something which is good. I'm hoping for no hassles...

I would recommend doing it over summer if you can, it's just easier as you don't have to put so many clothes on them to keep them warm and you can do what Neat's about to do and just put a long tshirt on them :hap: It made life heaps easier with my oldest and if yours is starting to tell you then it's a good time to just start putting the potty in the corner and let him develop some interest in it, even if he just sits on it fully dressed to watch TV .
