Interesting Visit To A Pet Shop

I visited a pet shop as we were walking past the other day on our way into another shop, I went to check out the birds and was initially concerned to see one cage which housed a bird with really bad scaly face and another with an undershot beak  I resisted the urge to get cranky straight awya and quietly asked the manager what the deal was. His response: 'Oh, they aren't for sale, they were given to us like that and we've had the vet out to treat them but the scaly face is proving very resistant, as far as I'm concerned I don't care how long it takes for them to get better, they can stay here until we get them right'

So my initial horrified reaction was quelled when I realised that this guy has been spending quite a bit of money on them and if anything in the end he will probably lose money on them after all the treatment. I did offer to take them off his hands and continue treating them at home so that he could have his shop cage back but he said no, he wanted to get them treated and he was happy to wear the cost and didn't mind that he had to give up one of his sale cages for them to live in.

Just made me smile so I thought I would share :D

That is great to hear that there are some pet shop owners that care about the animals.

The guy didn't exactly sound impressed that I had asked, kind of like I was accusing him of not caring for his animals but hopefully he realises I was only asking out of concern and not 'attacking' his reputation

wow, i interpreted that conversation as a bad at first! like he was saying i dont care about them, but then i re-read it and finally understood, congrats to them :D

very good approach you took MB :), nice to hear that type of response.
