i hope this is an okay topic section here it is about cleaning

Recently had family over and my budgie SnowFlake Received a big kiss from a member of the family and she now has marks of lipstick on her head i have used water and tried to rub it off her feathers with a washcloth and everything ( she seems fine nobodys gotten sick ive removed her from other others so nobody can preen her head) just wondering if there is any kind of soap i could use safeley or another way of trying to get it off anything will help dont need her getting sick or looking funny with red on a white birdie :bluebudgie:

LOLOLOLOL.

That made me laugh. I have no idea if the lipstick could be dangerous. But my budgie once landed in my curry and stained his feet and tail feathers. I just kept letting him paddle in water and splashed him. Have you tried spraying him with warm water? I think that it will come out in time. (Laughing out loud)

i tried rubbing it off with warm water yesterday and spent an hour in the bathroom with her today and that washcloth trying to rub it out with warm water i dont know about it wearing out it i didnt come out today with all that i did were suposed to go to a birdie show and presentation this week and i need her clean! :bluebudgie:

keep spraying and hold him gently in a handtowel. if he wiggles his head onto the towel it may come off that way?

lipstick is very waxy and might make the feathers go hard and pointy - honestly you would think people would be more considerate to the poor bird and restrain themselves!

Some people have no control pixie!!!

thanks il try it later today .. i really hope it comes out!

it should do :bluebudgie: let us know what works!

just tried again its all still there i even went and got an old mascara brush ( clean ) because its got fine bristles on it, and tried to brush it out with that but its just like it wants to stick and never come out! :bluebudgie:

it'll come out eventually, but i know you need this quick, so experiment different ways

im hoping it will eventually rub out bit by bit as im giving her a hed rub... shell be with my all day if it takes this long ... i need a stiffer mascara brush for this

(Laughing out loud) good luck :D

theres still a bit that wont come out. i never knew lipstick could be so stouborn :yelling: i guess a few more days like today and it should be gone... unless sombody out there has some magical homemade solution that they can give the secret away to me so i can get it out by atleast tomorrow :(Laughing out loud):

small amount of baby shampoo but keep it away from eyes this is what a lot of breeders of albinos use to clean them for shows

mix it with warm water wash the bird then use three containers of clean warm water and rinse the bird out in these works a treat

(Laughing out loud) (Laughing out loud) (Laughing out loud) You had better hope it's not the long lasting water proof stuff :D

It'll come out with time. Using a mascara brush is a good idea!! Keep trying!

interesting tip hath :D i used to have a long haired guinea pig that we had to bath in baby shampoo. otherwise his fur would get all matted! i had no idea it could be used on birds too though (obviously a very tiny amount though!) if my bird ever gets a stubborn mark on him then i will know what to try!

i didny have any baby "shampoo" but i had baby bath which said its a substitute for a bar of soap and its much better and less harsh , and you can use it as shampoo it said, it was tear free and scentless which was great too.... No more lipstick... she is now completley lipstick free :parrot:

woohoo! i will note this incase my bird ever has a problem like that!

I will have to put i sign near Blinkie's cage saying, "Ladies with lippy, STAY AWAY from my oh so cute head!!!"

Ha

She can come an kiss Agro any day of the week I can grantee she will never to it again

I must make up a sign for the gate ?BEWARE OF THE BUDGIE?

(Laughing out loud) Snow smelt so clean after that i should bathe all my birds in baby bath :blow:

Agro could keep burgulars away!!! Maybe you should loan him out as a smoochy lady deterent!!! ;)

Crisis resolved! Lucky, I never knew it would be so hard to get lipstick out. Such a cute story though. ;)

I wouldn't have imagined the truama's a little bit of lippy could cause either!!! :(Laughing out loud):

  • 1 month later...

I suggest that if the same 'kisseer' visits again, give her something else to kiss, like a snake, maybe :(Laughing out loud):

That took some work to clean up, so make her suffer the same fate
