Urgent Help Please!

I checked on my breeding pair this morning, and there was a baby, half out of the shell, cold, and looking rather dead...I've seen people say if you warm them up they may actually be alive..but this one decided to hatch early I think, it hasn't fully absorbed the yolk..I'm keeping it warm, is there anything else I can do?! Or is there not really any hope considering it still has the yolk... Please help..

is the chick trying to look for food? I can't be much help at this point but keeping it warm is crucial...I know someone with more experience will be on soon. Oh are the parents doing anything since it has hatched?

This happened to me only a week or so ago too :party0011:

I am so sorry, but your hen has possibly helped it out of the shell too early - there is nothing that can be done :party0011:

Can you post a picture?

I am sorry to say this chick will not all in probability make it. An early hatching and all the signs are not good. :party0011:

Well, it's died...I didn't think there was much hope of it survivng, but it was worth a try..:party0011: R.I.P little one.

This happened to me too just over a month ago. I had two chicks hatch by themselves (no blood, no mess, nice clean babies) and then there was a third egg with a pressure poke hole from the inside. Next thing I know the mum had the egg ripped open, blood, and the bub was pale and very week. I lived for less than 48 hours and then passed.... I wish you luck... let us know how you make out.

Just thought I'd tell you all the good news..after that bad news. I checked the mum again, and saw another egg with almost half of it gone, like the other egg..My first thought was, "Oh God she's doing it again.." But I took a closer look, and it's hatching itself!! So..there's some good news. :party0011:

Also, I don't know if it was just because of it hatching early etc, but the chick that died was a really pale white, instead of a pink-red colour like the normal ones.

the prem baby would have been pale because all its blood would have bled out into the egg when it hatched - i am so sorry it passed away - sadly these things happen at times :party0011:

Congrats on your new baby :party0011:

awww sorry to hear about your loss... I take it that this one has no yoke?? Thats great news.. Congrats.

Sorry to hear of your trouble .... Like Liv said Most Chicks that are hatched early do not survive .... 98% of pale pink babies do not survive ( the 2% was Dave's ones :what: ) ...

Has mum feed the surviving one ?

Too right Dave ... That is why I always quote her :what:

Any other breeder I know of including myself, Not one of their "pales" have survived ... So Gabrielle is a blessing .... ( off topic ... Gabriel is an Arch Angel ; ) so you choose the perfect name )

Sorry about your loss, but who knows there may have been something wrong-Mother nature has a way about it sometimes, hard as it may be :o .

How is the next little feller going :what:

The new baby is going great, he's been fed, and doing fine. Thankfully :hap:

I'm glad the new bub is going well, and I am so sorry for your loss. I too have lost bubs that hatched too early, or that Mum 'tried' to hatch to early. I am a big believer that everything happens for a reason, so perhaps something was wrong, and it just wasn't meant to be. Hugs mate xoxo
