Roxy Drinks Alot

Featured Replies

Roxy has always like drinking water but lately she seems to be drinking more than normal. I thought it could have been to due to the weather getting warmer but even on the cool days she is still drinking lots. Is that normal for some budgies to like their water?

I think so, as long as her poos are okay. Does she drink or play in it?

Her poos are a little bit runny and light brown in colour but when i can only get her to eat mashed egg with rearing food i think that is why they look that way. She does drink the water. I tried putting seed on my hand and offering it to her but she decided to pick all the seed off my hand and throw on the floor.

She has you so wrapped Deb

Roxy does have me trained very well and knows that if she keeps rejecting the seed and vegies i offer her during the day i will give in and give her the soft food. i know she is very stubborn and will hold out and not eat if she does not want to. Her feather condition has improved abit now i have been giving her egg but she still is looking scruffy.

There seems to be staining above her cere. If not food related, can indicate a bit of a respiratory issue.

PS she is so very beautiful

She is gorgeous :D

Agree with Kaz about the stain.

I think she needs a little bib that says "High Maintenance" on it hehe :)

I think the stains are more from food, when she eats she likes to get her face right into the food. I took some pics of her eating her tea tonight, she was well behaved tonight normally you cannot see her cere either

She is getting prettier and prettier each time i see her

Could there be some stuff in her budgie starter that is making her thirsty?

I read back on a few post, and she has always drank alot .....

Deb, I think she may be delayed in development because she had such a hard start just like premature babies they do things a little later, I really think she is okay and I guess the best thing you can do for reassurance is take her in for an avian vet check-up. She is so beautiful.

Thanks Elly, that makes sense what you are saying. I think i just worry too much about her because she is more just a budgie to me, Roxy is very special.

I understand, she is very special to me and many members of the forum , isn't it amazing how you can get attached to them and they are not "just" budgies they feel like your own kid :mallet:.

It is amazing, i love all my budgies but the bond i have with Roxy is much stronger. At night once all my kids are in bed, i take Roxy to my bedroom and watch telly with her, she loves to sit next to my lips so she can kiss me and puts her head on the side so i will scratch it for her. When she gets tired she falls asleep tuck under my chin. With some of the days i have with my kids it is so relaxing to spend time with her.

Awwwwwwwwww........

That's beautiful Deb - brings a tear to the eye.

No different then have a dog or cat, that is what I do at night with my one dog . Very special for sure!!!
