got it thanks neat , that was much easier to understand than some of the info i found else where on the net . reading those links i expect the cocci would be treated with priority then the cankers . still no more sick birds , YET ! but the vet cant open early enough for me tomorrow

Oh no! That is not good news at all. Hope it is not as bad as you fear.

oh NO :fear ! here we go again , lost one of bettys chicks last night and when i cam out his morning she was sitting on the bottom of the cage  .looks the chicks havent been fed for a bit either . going to the avian vet in town very shortly . dont know how much more of this i can handle :( . i just dont get it , betty and george have not been in contact with any other birds except jack before he was moved to another cage, and hed never seen birds other than his parents ( george and betty) , so how can they all be dying suddenly

OH NO :P

October sucks Doesn't it -

okay what is your base like. Is it a Cement, Soil, Timber , Soil on top of sand etc .....

What about the ROOF is it an open roof???

Did the vet tell you to treat ALL the birds or just the ones showing signs of illness?

Canker & Cocci are Hidden illness - You will have carries that show no signs what so ever of it - and once there is stress ( breeding - Change of Food - Moult and a few others ) is when they show what damage can really be done ...

What I would do is :

Get a cage disinfect it all leave the solution on it for 30 mins so that is has activated to it's fullest .. Rinse well and then either let sun dry or Towel it of - Get all new perches and wash them too or a quick solution is to stray branches with AIL ( THIS IS FOR AN EMERGENCY SITUATION) then go get branches and wash them with water blast them with the hose and let them dry off ....

But all the birds into the cage ... and treat them all .... Any sick SICK ones ( fluffed etc) get a heat lamp on to them in another cage ( if you can or a box or something there is always a solution) ... I have used fish tanks for an emergency hospital cage ...)

Get to your aviary in OLD CLOTHES and SHOES .... GUT IT OUT!!!!! All perches swings , mineral block, cuttle bones everything!!!!! Toss it all ....

If you can't afford new feeding stations Soak them all in disinfectant !!!

I would suggest to gut and clean thoroughly that aviary!

Wash down all walls, especially the wire as birds climb it with their beaks and etc ...

The base if it is cement Bleach the thing, If timber replace it ... if soil Get Pavers - timber or Gyprock - Villa board is better as it is more heavy duty ...

Get all new branches and FIT OUT make sure to wash everything -

Once the birds have the All clear put them in ......

If you have a nesting box in there TOSS IT OUT!!!

To some this may sound so extreme - BUT THIS IS WHAT I WOULD DO ...

I would get rid of everything to make sure that the only thing that the illness is left in is the birds and get the medication into them

october should be called something else like s***tober  .apart from jack my other 2 birds that died came out of my breeding cage , which jack was moved from 8 weeks ago . my 2 patio cages are 180 cm x 75cm x 55 cm ,have pitched roofs , have slide out trays and grate on the cage floor ( the same as the cage bars ) to stop the birds playing in their own mess . the trays are cleaned twice weekly , the water dishes daily ,the seed dishes every few days and the perches removed and scrubbed weekly .

i believe the breeding stress probably caused george and betty to be more susceptible to the cankers they were already carrying . i know now to treat for cankers several weeks prior to breeding . the rest of my flock are being treated for cankers since tuesday and once this is finished i will treat all of them as though they are in quarantine .

im very tempted to catch each one tomorrow morning and give them a precautioary dose of ivomec
