October 9, 200816 yr Author yes I know it's breeding season... I am not rushing into anything that I can't contain... the longer I can hold off the urge the better... I see how crazy people get on here when they start breeding.. I was gonna get two Lacewings but I figured that if I wanted bigger birds I should have some greens in there... Edited October 16, 200816 yr by Neat Changed erge to urge
October 9, 200816 yr Author I'm no expert don't ask me... lol... but I will try and get some better pictures to show up the colouring and then you can decide. :hap:
October 9, 200816 yr they are beautiful, the first bird is that brown on his cere? Possible scaley face, it is blurry so hard to tell?
October 9, 200816 yr Author here are some more pics of len... http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg237/J...andLen006-1.jpg and http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg237/J...andLen003-1.jpg I'll try and get a better photo of Lip's cere for further analysis..... Edited October 16, 200816 yr by Neat Change Photo's to links - Please re size to 640 x 480 thanks
October 10, 200816 yr He looks like a fallow hen I have, I'll see if I can find a picture of her for you...
October 10, 200816 yr Author whets the difference between fallow and Lacewing? I can never tell the difference...
October 10, 200816 yr http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....0&hl=fallow Fallows have Body colour which is more vibrant on their rump and more solid markings in the "normals" However the girl i'm showing you in this post looks like yours, -lacewing looking- but is infact a fallow...
October 10, 200816 yr Author hmmm she looks good... what colour are your hens cheek patches? They look white... my birds are sort of brownish... I guess cinnamon? If you look closely at my avatar you can see the colouring... any thoughts? Is he fallow or Lacewing or neither? You can move this thread to mutations now if yas want moderators... lol Edited October 10, 200816 yr by JimmyBanks
October 13, 200816 yr Author new pics of lip and len... they haven't changed much since last time I know but hey, I'm trying to get more and more pics of them my photobucket acount is getting to full
October 14, 200816 yr Thanks for the new pics Jimmy, they look great I am still not sure of Len's mutation, though I do know lacewings have purple cheek patches and cinnamon throat spots if that helps at all??
October 14, 200816 yr Author I dunno either, I will find out when I get around the breeding period of my life lol. I was looking at my Budgerigars in color book the other night but they don't have fallows in there... Libby showed me a picture of a Fallow hen and she looked very similar to Len but I dunno... I'm not really worried... he Len isn't a lacewing I will eventually get one...
October 14, 200816 yr Well, I should have a nest full of lacewings according to the pair I put down, but so far they are all looking like inos to me!! Theyre all still gorgeous all the same lol I too will have "real" lacewings one day :D
