Posted October 9, 200816 yr My mum is having her 50th next weekend and as I was at a bit of a loss as to what to get her I asked her what she wanted. She said she wanted some nice frames/pictures to hang on her walls. They have just redone their house, polished the floors, painted the walls, etc and generally modernised the place (originally there was lots of mission brown ). So she wants something fairly modern. She took down the older style Australian landscape water colours so I definately need to steer clear of anything like that I've bought a nice modern looking box frame from IKEA and now I am trying to work out what to put in it. Anyone have any ideas? I am capable of drawing anything animals and plants (but maybe that's a little 'dated' for what she wants), people and places, etc. Not so good with abstract stuff. The space I have to fill is about 30 cm square with a large matt around it (total frame size is 50cm square). The medium I will be using will be charcoal (black or dark brown or grey) highlighted with colours in either water colour or the coloured charcoal pencils (haven't decided yet)

October 9, 200816 yr Author Thanks BL, I had a bit of a look through. So far my thoughts are either a detail drawing of a single leaf or leaves or a gum blossom branch(something with a bold sort of pattern in it) or a portrait of my kids (her only grandkids). She already had lots of photos of the boys though so thinking maybe not. Edited October 9, 200816 yr by melbournebudgies

October 9, 200816 yr Author Just had a covert chat to my dad and he thinks she would like some more family pics. I suggested a drawing of Alex and Max and he though she would love it so I'm going to try that first of all Thank all Edited October 9, 200816 yr by maesie Typo
