Posted October 6, 200816 yr okay here is something that I realy suggest you avoid at all costs, I was sitting outside yeaterday watching my birds when I felt something tickling my left ear, i stuck my finger in to stop the itch and it suddenly got alot worse , then an explosion of pain oh my god there is something in my ear, I jumped up an ran inside to find hubby screaming "get it out, get it out, it hurts" my poor hubby tries to calm my down to tell him what is wrong and I manage to get out "something.. arrrr...in...arrr...ear....biting arrrgghh...me" so he grabs the keys and bundles me in the car, whips my down to the local medical center, i have tears streaming down my face, a roaring in my ear and frequent waves of pain going through my ear drum and down my neck, the doctor came scurrying in said okay lets see what we have here and proceeded to flush warm water through my ear, the little critter grabbed on for dear life before succuming to the tidal wave and allowed it's self to be washed out in to the little bowl, sadly it passed away in the watery grave So what was it you might ask that can bring a grown woman to her knees in agony? Well I will tell you > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > AN ANT
October 6, 200816 yr Oh dear.........it sounds quite funny at the end, but I can imagine it wouldnt have been funny at all!!! I hope you have recovered from your ant mishap
October 6, 200816 yr oh boy! I have seen on those emergency medical shows people getting critters stuck in their ears! I can only imagine (not too hard though *shivers*) what you must have gone through. Probably scary as much as painful too I'd imagine. Makes me paranoid. So much so I was half asleep the other night and thought something was tickling my left ear and promptly whacked myself in the head! I can tell you I didn't sleep the rest of the night . . .
October 6, 200816 yr Oh how horrible !!!!!! Â I'd have been jumping up and down screaming I think GET THE TWEASERS!!! Â Glad to hear it all came out okay in the end with no permanent damage
October 6, 200816 yr Author LOL trust me I was screaming, it hurt like the devil. I have some drops to put in, just had some and it is really sore so I am hoping that no problems crop up. I have to go back if it's still causing me pain, ohh and to have a tetnus shot
October 6, 200816 yr It's funny I've met all sorts of critters that bite but the little six legged ones are always the worst I think it's worse when your not expecting it to happen either, I stepped on a bee in my walk in robe a few months ago and it took me a full minute to realise it was a bee and that my foot hadn't been torn off Fancy sitting there not bothering anyone and an ant decided to crawl into your ear
October 6, 200816 yr Tetnus? For an ant bite? what ?  Sounds like luck is on your side he didn't wreck your inner ear, although Needles aren't what I'd call a "lucky" outcome haha  Bull ants are the worst! them and bees - I got bitten on the underside of my thigh/bum once and got a lump the size of a golf ball from it !!!! and on the tender part of my foot (the soft bit you don't walk on between the heel and ball of your foot)  Come summer I'm soo careful because they're out in force around my house and I like being barefoot unfortunatly Edited October 6, 200816 yr by *libby*
October 6, 200816 yr I had a Bull Ant run up my pants leg a few years ago... and as you did, I hit it to try and get it out (didn't know it was a bull ant at the time) Well... it got very, very angry and decided to bite me VERY, VERY, VERY close to my 'who ha'... and let me tell you, it was very unpleasent. :ratty: (I was kind of dancy around like this guy!!!)
October 6, 200816 yr I had a fly in my ear once which was annoying and gross I could only image what it would be like to be bitten in there! (((hugs)))) hope your ear gets better.
October 6, 200816 yr  Right on the soft part of my foot is exactly where the bee stung me too Libby. Even worse because I'm allergic to bees and my foot was so swollen I was on crutches for nearly a week (just wonderful with a one year old and a 3 year old to look after on my own ) I don't have the luxury of walking outside with no shoes on, I just can't take the risk unfortunately but one doesn't expect to have to wear shoes in your bedroom to guard against bees!   Oh, and here's a gross one for you! As prt of my uni degree we did a botany field trip into far north queensland in the rainforest. Out in the forest, in the rain for 10 hours a day with thousands of LEECHES. Five people got leeches in their EYES!!! It was about 4 months before the bite marks finally began to fade off my legs and hips
