What Are Faults, In Relation To Line Breeding

Featured Replies

Posted

I have read that we should be very careful while line breeding that we shouldn't double the same faults...etc or some thing.

Actually what are faults and whether it is visually visible or exactly what is this all about and could some one please through some light on this.

Thanks in advance.

Usually line breeding is done to propagate a good point the foundation stock have but it can work just the same at propagating bad points. For example if you line bred from a bird that had an extra long tail and bad throat spots, you might find that the bad throat spots were inherited instead of the long tail

Could you please point me to some article/website, where I can find more details about what are all the birds faults we need to look for and also how to know whether the throat spots are good or bad, tail is too short or long or normal...etc
