Ideas Needed For Attaching A Nestbox From Outside

Thinking of building a rack of two breeding cabinets each of size 30" (long) x 18" (high) x 18" (deep) using wood and with a wire mesh front attached via wooden frame.

So just wondering for attaching a nestbox of size say 8" (long) x 9" (high) x 7" (deep), whether we need make a opening for size 8" (l) x 9" (h) on the front top or just a small opening in such a way that only for the nestbox entrance hole and perch to fit in.

Also whether having just two cup hooks attached to the nestbox in the front side is sufficient for supporting the complete nest box with say 5/6 chicks or do we need to have some additional supporting wood at the nestbox bottom for better support.

I tried my best to put it in simple, but if it is still confusing I am really sorry for that. :)

Mine only have an opening big enough for the entrance hole and I know ALOT of people wo only use cuphooks so they should be fine

I agree with Melbourne budgie. Cuphooks are fine, or angled brackets or wooden struts screwed in. But cuphooks are best as you can lift the box off for inspecting.

Thanks MB and Kaz.

So my wild guess of this opening size is of around 3" square or 2.5" (long) x 3" (high), which also includes entrance perch. Is this right.

Whether this opening in breeding cage is of type sliding or door opening or completely removable piece and can be placed back once the nest box is removed or how exactly look like.

Thanks MB and Kaz.

Any of your suggestions will work. It all varies depending on the construction, shape and type of the cage ;)

What I am planning is of wooden rectangle shaped breeding cage of size 30" (long) x 18" (high) x 18" (deep). Front side of cage is of mesh attached to a wooden frame. Door position is at the extreme right or left bottom corner of size 8" x 8" and in the above remaining place (outoff total height of 18") of size around 10" high x 8" long is where I am planning for a opening to attach the nestbox. I was thinking for a door type opening, but I was not very sure whether this works out well and so thought to take all of your suggestions/ideas.
