October 6, 200816 yr Author I don't know when I can get him in, I don't have a licence, my grandad's working until 6, Im going out at 3:30 and my grandma's got to got to work at 12:00. I wish I have a licence and I wish school didn't start tomorrow, I wish I had been here to pick it up earlier.
October 6, 200816 yr Author Ive had a call from the vet and she has suggested that he supposed to have 0.1 of his oral meds over a space of 5 minutes and to dilute it with some extra water after to help him swallow it. But I'm not going to try giving it to him just yet due to him blowing bubbles. His vet has gone on an emergency call out but the lady is going to talk to the other vet that breeds budgies and then get back to me. I was thinking about trying to get the vet out to me as I don't have any way of transport but I don't have any money to pay straight up. I don't know what to do? The lady also said that his meds and water have most probably seperated which is true and to mix it all together. But I tried that last night and the meds didn't seem to disolve. His breathing seems to be normal but hes still spluttering and blowing bubbles. Edited October 6, 200816 yr by Cara
October 6, 200816 yr Author okay, Ive been referred to another vet clinic in Brisbane "Brisbane Birds and Exotics" the consoltation allown for that place is $85.00 and medications can be an extra $30 - $40 on top of that. My Grandparents are going to flip, they won't pay for that let alone drive all that way. I think I'm just going to have to get him put down unless there is another way. It's not looking so bright anymore for my baby, I wish I had a car to drive him down there. The new lady said that he may have been given the wrong meds or he may just dislike the taste of the bytril. But the bubbles have been occurring for probably 12 hours and I noticed that he is having difficult eating due to the bubbles hes blowing. So maybe it's for the best that I have him put down. I don't want him to suffer because of me or my Grandparents. Does anyone else have any more ideas? Edited October 6, 200816 yr by Neat spelling
October 6, 200816 yr Aww what a tough situation Is there anyone near by who can help you? Perhaps loan some money off someone and if worst comes to worst take him on public transport?
October 6, 200816 yr I feel for you mate. It always pays to have money saved up for situations like this. Can you ask a neighbor of friends Mum to drive you... If he is STILL blowing bubbles, it's not good. Some vets let you pay off bills if you can't afford it.
October 6, 200816 yr Author I have no family members close enough. It makes me stressed out just looking at him knowing I can't really do much more for him and the lady said that there is still a high chance he may not recover. I would rather put him out of his misery than to let him suffer and die at home. hes been through a lot these past 5 days and I don't want to really prolong his misery If it was the cat or dog my grandparents would be different I feel for you mate. We can afford it it's just Grandma views a budgie as just being a bird apparently a bird is a bird but a dog or a cat and its a different story. Besides I don't have a mum/dad (I'm sure they're somewhere in the big world but were I don't know) only my Grandparents who I have been living with all my life Edited October 6, 200816 yr by Neat spelling

October 6, 200816 yr I will he'll be going just as soon as Grandad get's home from work which will be between 4:00 and 5:00 I can't do much better than that. Good Luck. Make sure you discuss your options as they may let you pay things off. Don't give up hope mate... ((((hugs))))
October 6, 200816 yr Cara you did what you could in the situation you are in many wouldn't have even tried I am proud of you. If you get an allowance, or have a job etc...start saving up money for a vet fund therefore if you ever need to take Molly to the vet you have your own money and your grandad can't dispute it. Many people not just your grandparents see budgies as different then cats and dogs and this is sometimes a view you can change and then sometimes not. Hugs on your loss.
