October 4, 200816 yr I agree MB ... Oh well I hope that he gets better .... Did she check for Mega? or canker?
October 4, 200816 yr Author I agree MB ... Oh well I hope that he gets better .... Did she check for Mega? or canker? Yah she checked for canker but he didn't have it as he wasn't vomiting and she said that was one of the main symptoms of canker. Were not sure about Mega as it requires expensive tests and Grandad didn't want to pay that amount unless we tried the stuff the vet prescribed. Edited October 4, 200816 yr by **Liv**
October 4, 200816 yr Author Well thats Blue done for the night, he has had his oral medication and he has the stuff in his water and Grandma helped me to put the cream on around his vent. Hes had his cage cleaned also and is sound asleep under the warmth or the heat lamp. This morning i noticed he wasn't clasping the perch with either of his feet but after having the gunk removed from his fethers and vent he is gripping fine, It must have been paining him to move to much. How long should I keep the heat lamp on him for?
October 4, 200816 yr Author Keep the lamp on all night if you can - the warmth will do him lots of good. Yah I will keep it on all night, what about during the day time? Also how long will he be needing the heat lamp?
October 4, 200816 yr Author Thats good then cause I had it on him all day today and all last night aswell
October 4, 200816 yr I thought that you said he vomited ... Oh well . .. Liv has said 4 times to keep the lamp on all day I hope he gets better for you just take it day by day Edited October 4, 200816 yr by Neat added more info ....
October 4, 200816 yr No she not sure what it is but he got stressed out at the vets and was sitting on the floor of his cage after being at the vets. So the vet doesn't know what it is and gave you Batryil to "fix him " .... Doesn't sound right to me ... Any way not my business ... Hope he gets better ....
October 4, 200816 yr Cara this doesn't sound like an Avian Vet? What exactly happened at the vets office, what procedures did she take and tests?
October 4, 200816 yr I am praying he gets better for you Cara, I am very surprised he lasted this long he is a figher. You have been given good advice but I am wary about this vet's advice personally. This is a good time to consider starting to have a little saving account going for your birds when these things happen since your grandpa doesn't want to pay for anymore. he really needs more testing especailly the poop smear which is really not that expensive (at least in the US it is not). ((hugs))
October 4, 200816 yr Author Yah well she is an avian vet it says on her card and on her badge. I don't have a job so therefore I don't have money to spend only my $10 pocket money every week. I have told them that I am willing to give up horse riding until the bill has been paid of and they are thinking about it. 1 lesson costs $44 and I go every 2 weeks. He has improved he is much more livly this morning while I was putting the cream on his bum and also giving his oral. This poos have changed from dark green to mostly white with some dark green in the middle. Could this mean hes not eating enough?
October 5, 200816 yr Author The colour may be back to normal but the size and watery content isn't back to normal but im not expecting a miracle straight away
October 5, 200816 yr Author His poos have gone back to dark green with white part in the middle. Is this normal, I have just given him his third lot of medication
October 5, 200816 yr Im not sure whats wrong hes starting to blow bubbles From where? Do you still have his lamp on him for warmth?
October 5, 200816 yr Bubbles How are you giving him his medication? Edited October 5, 200816 yr by **Liv**
October 5, 200816 yr Author Bubbles How are you giving him his medication? Well he has some in water and the oral one we have to get him to bite/chew the end of the seringe and do it that way thats how the vet told us to do? Is it serious?
