Posted October 3, 200816 yr Hello im looking into getting a guinea pig and wondering if anyone knows of a breeder in the Perth Metro area?? Ive have been looking in local pet shops but am assuming its better to purchase direct from a breeder...is this a better option than a petshop purchase?? any info would be great..thanks
October 3, 200816 yr Your best bet would be to contact your local Cavy club as they will be able to give you the details of local breeders.

October 3, 200816 yr Shannon... we are a BUDGIE forum... not a Guinea Pig forum! We can not help you here.
October 3, 200816 yr Try small animal rescues too you will find they have piggies too manybe not babies but ones that are sweet and do need a home.
October 3, 200816 yr Author Shannon... we are a BUDGIE forum... not a Guinea Pig forum! We can not help you here. Oh sorry... I thought that since other members had posted about thier guinea pigs I would ask..I cant find the clarification list on what is classified as "off topic" so didn't think it would be a problem.
October 3, 200816 yr On the top of this forum it says Forum Notice: Topics regarding health and support etc. of other animals besides budgies will be removed. However, feel free to post about your other pets with images etc. BUT again, you should try small animal rescues you will be amazed what you may find . No worries

October 3, 200816 yr I think your sitting on a grey area here Shannon. You might have got away with simply saying hey does anyone know who to contact, but when you start asking about whether this way or that way is better it falls into the 'support' category
October 4, 200816 yr http://www.australiancavysanctuary.com/index2new.html The Australian Cavy Sanctuary is a great place.. I have adopted four boars from them a while ago and still support them.. They also do interstate adoptions oh and also have a GREAT Forum so you can chat with like minded piggy peoples
October 4, 200816 yr I dont see anything wrong with this post. She isnt asking about a sick guinea pig just about contacts. There arent many small animal rescues around here. I'd try the cavy club ifyou are after something particular or if they cant help have a look in the quokka paper. Sometimes they are the better ones coming from a home that has handled them heaps and looked after them well. Good luck mate.

I didn't mean to offend you (and others). Other members have posted about their Guinea Pigs, yes... but as we are a Budgie forum, we 'as a group' are not here to advice on other animals (not that we don't own them) As Elly stated, Offtopic Forum: Topics regarding health and support etc. of other animals besides budgies will be removed. However, feel free to post about your other pets with images etc. Again... sorry if I offended anyone... It was not meant in that tone or manner.
