Hi all im sure there are a number of breeders out there that have there breeding boxes in metal sheds.Im looking for ideas on how to control the heat that develops in the shed how do you all keep your birds cool i have a couple of small fans at roof level that keeps the air moving and i use a large droplett spray to cool them when needed and i alway have the main door wide open and just the screen door closed so what ideas do you all have and use :happy-dancing:

In my old birdroom, I ran water filled air coolers all day long. Terrific result.

In my new birdroom, the walls are insulated with polyester batts, then lined with coated ply. Ceiling is about to get some 2 inch thich polystyrene attached. I will be able to open all doors and windows for crossflow breezes and I have an airconditoning unit going in soon.

Another way to cool a shed roof, is to have a second roof above it with airspace between of at least 6 inches or more. This can also be acchieved by a shade sail of shade cloth with a blockout nature. On the really hot days a sprinkler on the roof to cool things down.

Just wanted to stress the importance of getting the temperature right.

 

Over the winter I ran a heater every night to take the chill out of the air and had 99% hatchability and survival. Currently the nighttime temperature has risen by about 5 degrees C but I hadn't adjusted the heater temperature. Unfortunately this has contributed to a spate of dead in shells this week.
