Posted October 3, 200816 yr I have just been watching my pair in the avairy, molly has been in the nest box for a few days now, she is out and having fun with Tommy(if you know what I mean) but then they seem to have switched roles and she is mounting him? Is this normal? It is actually quite funny to see because he will actually try and flip himself over when she does!! I know she is a female because she has laid before, her cere is crusty brown and his is blue.
October 3, 200816 yr Honestly, I think it's normal. Most budgie behavior doesn't surprise me, each taking on a role that you would think would be for the other to do. She just might be overly excited and acting on it. As long as they find there way around to make it all happen I guess it doesn't matter "who's on top"....... :hap: Edited October 3, 200816 yr by chrissy0705
October 3, 200816 yr budgies do that some times, as long as the results are fertile eggs, it doesnt really matter how they experiment

Its a kind of pushy hen syndrome dominance thing and doesnt last long.
