Posted October 1, 200816 yr Here are 3 pairs of birds that Kaz and I are breeding with. Kaz supplied the cock birds and I've supplied the hens. I'm keeping them at my place and hopefully we should get a round out of them. Pair Number One: Lutino Hen and Olive Cock Pair Number Two: GreyGreen Normal Hen (split Dark Green) and Rec Pied Cock Pair Number Three: Violet Normal Hen (split Albino) and GreyGreen Spangle Feel free to critique and ask questions.
October 1, 200816 yr Just to add these birds have been quarantined for many weeks prior to our joint breeding project. There is also some of Renee's birds in my birdroom now too, One pair already paired up and two others to be decided over the next couple of days. The pair already paired up is my recessive pied hen with Renee's split recessive pied green cock. Edited October 1, 200816 yr by KAZ

October 1, 200816 yr Pair Number Three: Violet Normal Hen (split Albino) and GreyGreen Spangle Feel free to critique and ask questions. With the violet and green what are the expected outcomes for the babies? Oh and i want them both.... Edited October 2, 200816 yr by **Liv**
October 1, 200816 yr Nice looking pairs girls Congrats on going into breeding together, although I think some of the genetics are a little off  Hens can't be split ino and Grey greens can't be split dark green :happy-dancing:
October 1, 200816 yr I will let Renee explain what she is hoping for with the pairs at her house. I will post the other pairs I am doing at my house later.
October 2, 200816 yr I have just borrowed a lacewing cock from a friend and this is the first time I have used someone else's bird in my breeding. I was just curious as to how you decide who will get what when the babies hatch?
October 2, 200816 yr I have just borrowed a lacewing cock from a friend and this is the first time I have used someone else's bird in my breeding. I was just curious as to how you decide who will get what when the babies hatch? At the time of ringing the chicks you alternate legring them. A legring for renee and one for me and so on. At the legringing stage you have no idea how they will turn out so its pot luck at the end. Flip a coin to see whos legring goes on first.
October 2, 200816 yr Author Nice looking pairs girls Congrats on going into breeding together, although I think some of the genetics are a little off Hens can't be split ino and Grey greens can't be split dark green Well I stand corrected then. What I mean is her Mum was an albino (pair number 3) and her Dad was Dark Green (pair number 2).With the violet and green what are the expected outcomes for the babies? Oh and i want them both.... I don't really care what we get, although if the Gods smile kindly on I'd like a couple of violet/cobalt spangles and some olives (as they are rare). But really it was a case of Kaz putting forward her best cocks and me putting forward my best hens. When I say best I mean Kaz's cocks weren't being used and I got down on my knees and begged her to use them so she said, "okay, let's do it together!" As it happened my lutino hen had had a couple of rounds of clear eggs and I suspect the cock bird was a bit clueless, my greygreen hen is as fussy as they come and has resisted bonding with 2 previous partners, and my violet hen has gone down already but had a round of clear eggs and I suspect her mate was just too tired to do the biz (he'd just raised 3 rounds). So I am not holding my breath by any means. Also I will wrap things up by mid-December as I don't like breeding in the heat. Having said that there is no reason why we shouldn't get lucky.
