Opinions On Putting Pairs Back Down

Blue and Flame have been great parents and soon their babies will go to their new home and I would love to get another clutch out of them. However I have been talking to people and there are differences in when to do this.

So just wanting others opinions on when they do this? Do I give them a couple of weeks without the bubs, lots of calvet, fatten them up and then put them down again or so I wait a few months?

Dont wait too long or the hot weather will be upon us :D

If they want another round I let them go another round, you'll find if she does she'll lay eggs before the other bubs are even weaned... If she does and she's fit and healthy, let her, If not... Best to leave it for another time.

okay thanks, I am thinking of taking the oldest two out and just leaving the two yongest in with her and put her down in the new breeding cages that pippi so kindly left on my door step!

the oldest two are flying and I am pretty sure are feeding themselves as they are both over 4 weeks old and just leave the bubs in with them for the next week or two.

Sounds like a plan :D

Just place the two on the bottom of the cabinet with a plate of seed to pick at and leave the two younger in the nest, if mum lays eggs though make sure you whipp them out quick smart :D

If she is doing her job fine and with no issues let her go again. Like the others have said they will normally lay again while

there are bubs still in the nest box. Agree with Lib on being quick :D

Well they don't have a nest box at the moment as I took it out. Will set them up in the new breeding boxes that Pippi gave me and I also put Pretty and Cloud down. The older two can stay inside and get handled some more and the younger two should be right to be split off in a weeks time.

Hmmmmm just thinking of all the work I have to do tonight! :D
