Sorry I wrote this in concern that Lumina is going to die because George mates with her everyday when she comes out the box. I'm worried hes going to keep making eggs and shes going to get egg bound.

I am not well experienced breeder, But I think this is a normal behaviour of male mating hen during egg laying time and hen will stop laying eggs when she thinks that the clutch size is good enough. Other members, please correct me if I am wrong.

It is normal behavior, as long as the eggs are being layed about every other day she will be okay, this is very natural and how the eggs are fertilized. You can keep an eye on her bum :rolleyes: for swelling and redding to ensure she is not getting eggbound.

It's normal behaviour. There is a common misconception that mating causes egg laying. It is not the mating that causes them to lay, hens will lay whether they have mated or not. They are mating because the hen is in laying mode
