Posted March 17, 200520 yr Hi, I just joined. I'm comming reeeally close to buying a budgie, something i've been wanting to do for years! I've been looking up some cages on the internet but I just don't know which ones to choose. I know that bigger is better, but bigger is also more expensive (sometimes ). Should I get one or two and if i were to get one now would i be able to introduce another bird later on? -tina Edited March 17, 200520 yr by xtinaxtinax
March 17, 200520 yr i would get one budgie to start with. It may become very bonded with you and you might not want another one.
March 18, 200520 yr If after you have had this one and gotten biten by the budgie bug like so many of us do you can still and another later on. As to cage, just the biggest you can afford and it's best to have it longer than higher. Just don't get one of the 'budige start kits' that pet stores sell they are way to same and don't get a round cage they are not good for any type of bird. Hope this helps
March 18, 200520 yr Try to get a recatangular cage. Horizontal bars are also good because it is easier for budgies to climb around.
March 18, 200520 yr Yes rectangular cages are best even though in mathematical terms domes have more insides than their outasides the budgies might get one of they're claws stuck at the top!
March 18, 200520 yr And its always worth searching ebay, (i just picked up my birds a huge 80cmx50cmx80cm cage for ?35). Claire xXx
March 18, 200520 yr I would buy the biggest cage you can afford because one bird will never be enough Look at me started off with one and now I have forty three Doe
March 24, 200520 yr I would buy the biggest cage you can afford because one bird will never be enough Look at me started off with one and now I have forty three Doe <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Do all your birds have names?

April 2, 200520 yr here a quick picture of mine, the cage is 80cm x 50cm x 80cm Notice how big the door is, the bigger the better, my two don't even hesitate to fly out with wings out at full strech. Claire xXx

April 2, 200520 yr wierd cage names Reminds me of the names of furniture at IKEA I like the 50 and 60 range that looks like a nice size i wish i could find their prices!
April 3, 200520 yr if you look at the link to my cage, that cost me 50 pounds. just to give you an idea.
April 3, 200520 yr yes the bigger the cage the better, but i think it depends, how much time you are going to spend with your budgie and how much he/she is going to be out. as for 1 or 2, i would start off with one, a better bond then can be formed you can always add later. ATD
