the baby is alive and doing well. It is a miracle. From now on I will not be throwing any eggs away without checking first!!

:D:D

WOOO HOOOO Congratulations on your little miracle baby :angel1:

Congratulations you have done well 7 little babies :D

I have checked on the babies again about an hour ago and the new one doesnt seem to be doing too well. It's crop was empty and it was weak.

I got it inside and attempted to feed it but it just wouldnt. I am hoping it has sucked in enough to give it strength to call for it's mum to feed it. I will check soon because if it does die, I dont want it left in there.

Im hoping for another miracle :D

Im pretty sure it is all pink. It's not pale in any way.

I have just been reading other posts about chicks not fed. Can I take the other babies out for a while and hope molly feeds this one?

As you know I have been advising you by PM so I am having to answer twice each time.

Re your question here and by PM.......I would try that. Chances are this baby is too weak though to feed or to cry out to be fed.

Re the yellow belly, I wasnt asking if it was pale. Does it have yellow under the skin of its belly ?

PS you have my phone number.

the baby still isnt being fed, so I have been taking it out every 3 - 4 hours and feeding it and then putting it back under the others to keep warm.

It still looks very weak however looking at photos I have taken each day it is growing slowly.

One question though. When I fed it , it seemed to have food full on one side and the other looked half food and half air?

Is there a way to keep the baby warm outside of the nest because mooly is getting very cranky. I do not have a heat lamp.

Have you got any kind of lamp...not necessarily a heat lamp....25 to 40 watt globe in it ? The half air half food might mean you need the food to be slightly runnier.

I am home all day tomorrow if you need to bring the baby over to go in with one of my hens.

I have just bought a lamp and stuff to make a hospital cage/ nest and will try to hand rear it. I will try to make the food runnier

they are so tiny and sweet, just a note when you are taking close ups with your camera, use the close up setting which is usually indicated by a "flower" or it is called the macro setting then when you point and shoot, click the button 1/2 way down and let the camera focus once it focus then click. You will find your close ups are clearer. :laughter:.

eldest baby is starting to show yellow pin feathers. Is that to be expected frpm these 2, or is it going to turn green?

the last baby although it's eyes are not open, they are red.

Your male looks like a YF2 so the baby could be a YF too

If the male is green (as sometimes its hard to tell) then all babies will be green unless he is split for blue

The yellow pin feathers you are seeing are on the wing.If you look at the dad he has yellow feathers in his wing too. Body colour will come in later

the babies in the avairy are all doing well, all have been fed and growing well. Some are showing white pin feathers on their wings. The eldest has gotten some more colour. yellow!! on it's tail and back of neck.

The baby that needed help out of the egg and was rejected by the hen is doing well, it isnt growing very much but slowly is. I am feeding it every 2 hours and it goes crazy for it's food.it is 4 days old and still looks around 2 days old, but very active and moving around his special nest quite a lot.

Great job !! :anim_19:

Just reading through your posts on here it is so exciting yet so daunting! As a first timer after reading this I feel like taking the nestboxes of two of my cages and just starting with one pair breeding instead of three. If you are going through all this with one pair, what would I do with three times as many?! I also thought not though because if I need to foster then the others will be there. Well done and lucky you had Kaz and Co in your corner! Cant wait to read more, keep up the posts!

I do have 2 other pairs however none of them ever got their act together!! My new problem now is molly and tommy have been out of the box most of today mating!

The eldest chick is 11 days and youngest in there about 7 days(3 hatched on the same day)

will she be likely to get rid of these chicks so she can lay again. I didnt want her to breed again until she has had a rest, this is her second lot. The first round were all dis.

It is daunting and I am very tired but watching this little one survive another day is so rewarding. I owe it all to kaz and the advice I have gotten from on here. This is also my first(well that have hatched anyway)

update - the last baby to hatch is still alive, :D but I am very worried about it. It seems every time between feeds it's crop fills up with air. It is still very small but still active.

Molly wasnt coping very well with the babies and not feeding them properly or keeping them warm, so after trying a few things I have separated 3 of her babies and am hand feeding them with the little one, and left her with 3. This seems to have worked as she is now feeding and their crops are always full. :feedbirds:

Eldest baby is getting more feathers. There is another one showing yellow pin feathers and a few showing white pin feathers. One chick seems to have hardly any down at all compared to the others. He looks like a baldy!! I think it might be plcking itself. Is this common?

One baby about 10 days is getting very curious and peering out of the box. I am worried it may jump and get hurt. :D

Extremely unlikely.

I am glad to report all is well here with 7 little babies cheeping non stop and growing well. :D All but the little one. Baby 7 who didnt hatch on its own still isnt growing much however it is still alive, still eating, and actually standing and moving around. It is quite cute as it is still the size of a few days old baby!!

I have been adding one of the bigger babies in with it during the day to keep it company and help it stay warm. It seems to enloy this and follows the bigger one around when it moves. :D

All the other babies have a lot of colour now, I cant wait to see what they end up like.

Some are getting a bit too curious though and like to stand on the edge of the box and peep out!!

here are some new pics of 2 of the babies. They are a bit blurry, I am hoping for a new camera for christmas. If anyone can tell what sex they are or what they may turn out like would be great.
