okay before anyone gets comfused because of my heading I'm not preggers yet :D

Just thought since there are so many baby mad peoples on here you might like to follow through my journey.

So here we are:

We are hoping for a baby...BUT if we can get a girl that would be nice so today marks the first day of my 'think pink' mission.

I won't go into all the nitty gritty and gross details of other things that can be done to increase girl chances but I started the 'girl diet' today. So breaky was a raspberry and strawberry breaky smoothie: handful of berries, small scoop of icecream, 2 weetbix and milk...YUM!

This is what I have to stick to:

DRINKS - high calcium milk must have 750ml min each day. Or high calcium water (acidic ph) bottled varieties - evian, perrier etc (thats it ladies - I am sorry)

MEAT - 130g per day only - more white than red

EGGS - okay in moderation

Unsalted butter

DAIRY - Yoghurt, milk desserts (2 x a day)+ milk as above

Bread - low/no salt variety (reduce yeast products)

Nuts - almonds, peanuts, hazel nuts, cashews all unsalted

FRUITS - apples, strawberries, rasberries

VEGES - Potatoes minimal (3 x week max) green beans, onions, leeks, peas, cucumber, radish, capsicum, celery, cooked tomato, eggplant, fresh asparagus, green salad

Jam - once per day

Rice, pasta, flour

Oils,spices, curry powders (no salt)

NONE OF THE FOLLOWING

Coffee, tea, chocolate, fruit juice, soft drinks, alcohol, pork, ham, ready to eat meals, smoked anything, sauces and gravy, shellfish, cheese (try nimbin low salt variety - this would be okay in small quantities), cakes (store bought) quiche, pizza, corn, popcorn, dry fruit, all other fruit than what is allowed, liquorice, olives, gherkins, tin or packet soup, alka seltzer or antacids...

Very exciting :D

We did things to get a girl too.

Gender of the fetus is decided purely on the male sperm, no diet you eat will change that.

Personally I put it all down to timing - worked for us.

Male sperm is smaller and faster than female sperm, but the male sperm tends to die sooner too.

The idea is at ovulation to have as many living female sperm as possible and as little male sperm. This is normally archived by regular (daily) intercourse up to 3 days before ovulation and then none thereafter until at least 24 hours after ovulation is complete.

Some men just don't have much sperm of a particular gender, so despite all your efforts you could still get a boy.

Good luck and i hope it works.

Good Luck, Hailey was simple not much thought just wham bam (no more details)....she was completely unexpected.

Actually there have been a number of studies which have shown the the female diet has plays more of a role than timing. The shettle method (timing) is a long standing method which is now being tested and many scientists believe that it plays less of a role than we think. It comes down to this: The male sperm prefer an alkaline environment and will die much more quickly in an acidic one. The female sperm are toughies and they can handle the acidic environment. So in order to decrease the chances of a male sperm winning the race the woman can eat a diet which creates a more acidic pH which the male sperm can't tolerate :D

This is my only contribution .... :D

The pH of the women's tract is also very important. A more acidic environment favors girls, since it will kill the weaker y-sperms first, leaving a greater quantity of x-sperms available to fertilize the egg. On the other hand, a more alkaline environment favors boys. Shettles recommends a douche of water and vinegar (acid) immediately before intercourse to favor a girl; a douche of water and baking soda (alkaline) will help for a boy.

The whole douche issue is one you have to be careful with though and it's possibly not as effective as the diet. The reason being that you have to be very careful with the dilution of the vinegar and also it cannot be placed too far in to the tract (sorry too much info I know), the advantage of the diet being that it changes the entire body chemistry and ensure that the pH is evenly acidic through out :D

Best of luck with this...my ex husband used to brag that " he was a good plumber and sent the babiues out with TAPS ON" but we had two girls. He tried to blame me for that but I told him the male chooses the sex of the baby. My ex husband was a very arrogant man and virtually ignored my daughters due to the fact he had no sons. They have spent the better part of their lives trying to be valuable in his sight. :D

MB what you have written I have read too :D

Well in this house the three 'men' have decided that they want a baby daughter/sister and apparently I'm supposed to comply :D:D

My husband is the youngest of four boys :D: the neighbor across the street has 3 boys and the youngest a girl, same with my cousin 3 boys and last one a girl so it CAN happen!

okay before anyone gets comfused because of my heading I'm not preggers yet

What??? No cakes or chocolate?? Bugger that i will take my chances and just hope for a girl .....i need my sweets or the other two kids will drain my energy completley!!!

  • Author

That was my thought too until I realised I can eat as much icecream as I like  You can have sweets just not ones that they use salt in the making of (like licorice)

No licorice  !!

i LURVE licorice! Why are salts bad?

So does that mean no naturally salty foods? E.g. Anchovies or caviar? mmm Caviar haha

  • Author

You have to basically steer clear of salt altogether. Increases salt intake acts a 'buffer' in the same way it does in marine water makes the body chemistry more alkaline, by excluding it this bufferring affect is lost and the body reverts to a more acidic state.

Ahh now here i was thinking it'll make you retain water and that would somehow be a bad thing haha

Bloody osmosis

It isn't recommended that you stay on this sort of diet for a long time as it isn't particularly balanced. It's okay for a couple of months and then you should either take a break from it and try again after a month or if you fall pregnant revert straight back to a normal healthy diet

Wow ..

I ate chocolates and chips through both of my pregnancy ... Gained 30kgs Ekkkkk.

Lost it then fell again gained 15kg and well i have a few more to lose But I don't care heheh

MB I hope that no matter what you deliver that it is Healthy and Happy - Good luck

Best of luck with your plans. I hope you get a very happy and healthy child and I know he or she will be loved and get everything in life that makes life worthwhile: lots of love.
