Posted September 23, 200816 yr I checked my guys today and found Head Case on the bottom of the cage with no way to get back in the nest box. He was a little cold but Daddy was trying to look after him so that was good. So I put him back in the nest box, check on the other guys and I hear this thud, yeah you guessed it Head Case had jumped out of the nest box again. So now I am wondering what I should do. Should I clean up another cage and put an open nest box in the bottom so they can come in and out? These are my pet types and I am planning on hand taming them before they go to their new owners so was planning on bringing them inside with their parents to that Anna and I can handle them each night. Suggestions?
September 23, 200816 yr How old is he ? Are you sure Mum isnt pushing him out ? I use an icecream tub for babies on the breeder cage floor http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....=icecream+igloo
September 23, 200816 yr Author How old is he ? Are you sure Mum isnt pushing him out ? I use an icecream tub for babies on the breeder cage floor http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....=icecream+igloo Mum and Dad where not even in the cage (as they are hand tamed to a point) they get free flight time when I am checking the cages, I open their cage and they fly around the breeding room and go and talk to harley and raid the treat box on my desk so I know he left on this own accord. As for age he was hatched on the 28/8 so he is getting near the 4 week old mark. A nest box on the bottom of the cage is easiest at this point yeah I think I will re jig stuff tonight and move them inside so we can play with the pretty babies! :hap: Edited September 23, 200816 yr by Angelic Vampyre
September 23, 200816 yr 4 weeks was the age that princess was kicked out / left I crop fed her and she weaned herself pretty well .....
September 23, 200816 yr Author I worried about this for about 20 sec but then remembered that Daddy (Blue) was trying to sit on and feed Headcase on the bottom of the cage so I think he is just one of those bubs that wants out like NOW!!!!!
September 23, 200816 yr If the father is feeding him in the bottom then maybe leave the nestbox where it is and just give him a little icecream container in the bottom of the cage to sit in.
September 23, 200816 yr Author True however they all have to move cages to move inside so will see how we go. Poor flame looks like she has had the stuffing taken out of her, can't wait for the babies to leave her alone and she can build some more condition up.
September 23, 200816 yr As for age he was hatched on the 28/8 so he is getting near the 4 week old mark. If he's fully feathered I wouldnt worry about trying to keep him in the nest anymore. Just give him a shelter on the cage floor for when he wants to huddle and get warm.
