okay so the dialogue went something like this:

 

The time is midnight, I am in bed half asleep, when Alex (4 yr old runs in)

 

Alex: Mum, mum there's a rat and Alley's(cat) playing with it!

 

Me: A rat, there wouldn't be a rat in the house Alex

 

Alex: There's a GIANT rat mum

 

Me: You're imagining things Alex, go back to sleep.

 

Alex: OOOKKKKK (in a whiny voice)

 

 

10 minutes later, the house is quite again and I open my eyes to see a large rat trotting in my direction across the bedroom floor. As it gets closer I can hear it makes small sniffing noises and the hair on the back of my neck stands on end. Finally it reaches the edge of the bed and start climbing up!, then it LEAPS!

This was the rat:

 

Pumpkin was promptly scooped up and put back in his cage which was secured properly

Nah, he's met the cat before so they're fine

Oh! you had me going there for a minute! I thought, Oh no! The rat is going to jump on MB EWWWWwwwwwWWWW!!!

OMG I was thinking the same thing well I was picturing MB Jumping up and down on her bed yelling for the cat to come and get it
