Hardy Is Making A Strange Noise

Featured Replies

hey guys I need your opinions, my new bird Hardy is making a really weird noise whenever I go near the cage, like he is gasping for breath but it's not wheezing it's more of a sqeaking type thing, I am wondering if it is stress and he is freaking out cause he sits really still and trembles as well. is there anything I can or should be doing?

Sounds like he is sick. Try to get him to the vet asap. In the meantime try to keep him really warm. Budgies body temperature is, I think, 43 degrees Celcius, so try to get the ambient temperature to about 35 degrees.

A very good indication of either a lack of iodine or a respiratory issue. He needs the vet ASAP

okay so Hardy has just been to the vet and she said he has a respiratory infection, gave him an injection, he will need another on monday, both Hardy and Santana in the hospital cage now resting.

I am really annoyed with the guy who sold him to me and myself cause Liv did mention that she didn't like the place I got them but when I was in there, everything looked clean and the birds looked active and healthy, I think I will give him a ring and let him know what has happened :hap:

I am sorry they are sick :hap:

"that" shop is a yucky place, but respiratory infections can pop up any where you buy them from

Visit "that" shop on a Wednesday morning and you will see why i am sickened by it.

Very sorry to hear this happened to you, thank goodness he has a good observing eye because if you don't catch those infections they can really go down hill quick.

I am sure that he will be fine with some antiboitics and some TLC or at least I hope so, the vet said that he seem fine other wise, bright, lively, big and chunky :)

Liv, I promise I wont be going there again, I have no need to now that I have 2 breeders just around the corner :hap: :D

hey guys 1 quick question, is there anything that I could be feeding them or addatives to help them get better, I have been giving them vitamins in the water and gave them some veggies that they had a pick at today. I bought some egg and biscuit mix for my breeding pairs today, should I offer some of that to them? if so do I mix it with water or mix it in with their seed? (I am saying "they" because Santana has been in the same cage, the vet said he seems fine so far though)
