Posted September 11, 200816 yr Hi, I recently visited a breeder who said he gives his aviary birds probotic then liquid calcuim in their water on alternating days, I have got some probotic and am going to give it to my birds, but I forgot to ask if it is also a good idea to give the probotic to the birds that are breeding (I know calcuim is fine for breeding budgies, but not sure about the probotic). Can someone help me with this query. :hap:
September 11, 200816 yr Given probiotic is recommended by wildlife carers to give to orphaned birds I can't imagine it would be a problem to give it to breeding birds :hap:
September 11, 200816 yr My guys get it for two days out of the week and I have one clutch and 6 pairs down no effects that I can see.
September 11, 200816 yr Author Thanks guys, I didn't think that it would be a problem but if in doubt it is always worth checking. Thanks again
September 11, 200816 yr Why do you all use probiotic? i have used it for my bird before but that was to put the good bacteria back into them after i gave them antibiotics as it kills both good and bad bacteria. if (u)-you give them probotic to often wouldn't it give them to much of one or the other? if that makes any sence matt DO NOT USE SHORTCUTS! September 11, 200816 yr Probotics are FANTASTIC for Sick birds - for Use with breeding pairs around the 1 week mark before eggs are due to hatch . and for the Nursery birds Do not use probotics whilst giving bird antibiotics as it cancels out the antiboitics
September 11, 200816 yr Sorry about the shortcuts. I'm just used to my phone i think. Edited September 11, 200816 yr by maesie typos and punctuation
September 11, 200816 yr Sorry about the shortcuts. I'm just use to my phone i think. I understand that, but you are not the only one who uses shortcuts on your phone. Most others are able to use proper english when posting here. I suggest you read all of your posts before posting. You also need to add punctuation. I have again added full stops and capital letter to your above post. Just take the time to re-read. There is also an option to use spell check. Click on the 'abc tick' button and install it to your computer. Easy as! Edited September 11, 200816 yr by maesie Added more
