Posted September 9, 200816 yr I bought myself a large compost bin last week but I'm not sure how to get it started. I've been told I need to add other stuff to it before I start adding vegies, does anyone have a sure fire way to get it going properly?
September 9, 200816 yr Layer newspaper and pea straw... you water it a little (I think leave it for a bit) and then start adding your veggies, egg shells, tea bags etc... Don't quote me on that and I'm not sure on timing etc...

September 9, 200816 yr Yes I remember Lime too my mother had one going, the cool thing about it is once it is going it is neat to turn it over and see the steam come out of it.
