Posted September 8, 200816 yr I have decided to call the new baby pied i bought Loopy. Loopy is the most silliest budgie i have ever owned. She spends most of the day doing somersaults on the bottom of the cage and loves to lay on her back. i think she must of got dropped on her head. She is not doing it from stress, she seems to enjoy hanging in silly positions.
September 8, 200816 yr cute photos My Lady does that too. You will find it is a stress thing though so just keep an eye on her.
September 8, 200816 yr how can you tell if it is a stress thing Liv ? i dont understand how you tell ? just curious thats all.
September 8, 200816 yr Stress - beause it is a new environment, this is what we see when we get a new bird that is quarantined . they do the 'ol GET ME OUTTA HERE circus act
September 8, 200816 yr Author I thought it was just a baby thing, i have seen photos of other members budgies doing the same thing. If she was doing it because she was stressed wouldnt she be showing other symptons as well, she started eating as soon as i put her in the cage and she is with another budgie who she interacts with.
September 9, 200816 yr It is a good sign that she is eating and interacting with the other budgiebut she is still stressed out, keep an eye on her and she should settle in given time. Some of mine did it to but they got over it some quicker than others
September 9, 200816 yr Time will tell Deb but she has just the same expresion on her face as my lorikeet who likes to roll on her back and play so I reckon she's just cheeky
September 9, 200816 yr They are also testing out their environment - maybe thinking they can squeeze out of the holes somehow (they aren't the brightest sometimes) but mostly they just end up squeezing between their legs and flipping over! My budgies as babies did it, but so did one of the full grown birds I had that was used to living in an aviary.
